Octavia TDi brake servo fault

Featured Replies

:) Has anyone had a faulty servo on their Mk1 FWD Octavia? I run an independent garage, and TBH it's not often servos need replacing generally. I replaced one today on a 1999 TDi [engine code AGR]. The symptoms were a very hard, dead pedal feel and a fairly obvious air leak from where the pedal linkage enters the servo unit.

It's not that easy to replace on the Octavia TDi, anyone else done one?

I have done myself, not many though.

But if you held your foot gently you could get the servo to woosh the whole time from under the dash.

Try changing one on a 1.8T, engine has to be dropped.

:thumbdwn: I'd like to meet whoever designed that white plastic clip that connects the pedal to the servo!

Gave up trying to get them out in one piece years ago. Take the brake light switch out and one sharp tug upwrads, voila!

:P It took a very sharp tug indeed to break this one free!

Have you ever had an Octavia brake pedal that doesn't spring all the way back causing the brakes to bind even with the brake lamp switch removed?
