Dilemma

Featured Replies

Want to get the Furby chipped soon but there is one major problem, I am insured through Skoda as they did me the cheapest quote around. Now if I tell them I have chipped the car all they have to do is mention this to Skoda warranty and bang goes my warranty.

What should I do as I only renewed yesterday the car insurance.

Ivan

The insurance policy is bound to be with another company, not Skoda -they just put their name on it. I believe that Data Protection would stop them passing any info back to Skoda, so you're probably OK.

Well, if it's Skoda Insurance then if you phone them up and ask for a quote on a modified vehicle chances are they'll just say no anyway.

That said, if you modify your vehicle, Skoda UK don't pretend that they won't do anything other than void your warranty if they find out. So if you can't afford the risk of losing your warranty, don't get it modified...

Rob.

Or change insurers.... ?

Get a Box instead of a chip so you can remove it?

Buy a second hand pd130 ECU get that chipped and fix on. (VAG com can sort the rest)

Might be right on this being another company cause they didn't know what engine was in the Fabia vRS ;)

It's a company that operates it on behalf of Skoda. It's basically Skoda's name stuck on a bog-standard policy so that they can offer a 'complete' service to their buyers. Can't recall who it is- Blue Star or someone like that?

tell them, you have no choice, but i doubt the insurance arm speak to the warranty people,it will two totally different depts within a huge company

dont take my word for it though
