anyone got any thoughts on this please? if the dealer clears fault codes etc with they clear the remap on my car? would they need to reset the ecu etc? any advice greatly appreciated

I think that if you use the search facility you should find a lot - the drop in voltage will always cause the electro-hydraulic steering pump to drop out as it needs a lot of power - or is this a steering sensor problem?

Sometimes can be an indication of a pump failure or as mentioned above the steering angle sensor but I would imagine there will be fault codes.

Clearing fault codes will not affect your remap.

hi guys thanks for your replies so far i did a quick search after my last post and found out various reasons why it could happen...so if skoda hook it up to the computer and it comes up with the fault codes by clearing them will not affect my remap with jbs? that would be amazing if that is true...what about if they reset my scu or would they really have no reason to do this???

If I had a remap done, I would tell my garage...

I was asking about remaps the other day to one of their mechanics, they said they're fine and usually wouldn't know unless they were checking the ecu in particular.

They've had cases before where fault codes have been produced, and parts have been replaced etc, but still produce the fault codes. And apparently can be caused by a remap, the guy had to admit to it in the end and may have incurred the costs of replacement parts.

Your remap is safe unless they flash upgrade the ECU and I can't see them doing that for a Steering problem.

cheers mate thanks for that fingers crossed hopefully with it being some kind of electrical fault they will not need to touch the ecu fingers crossed!!!
