How Do I Remove Centre Console?

Featured Replies

Question as in title.

I have DSG and Jumbo box.

I have a good reason for wanting to remove it, so not too bothered if it involves a bit of work.

Steve.

– Remove cover for gearshift

– Remove screws ⇒ item 1 and take out ashtray ⇒ item 2

– Release plug for ashtray illumination

– Remove screws ⇒ item 17 and remove both side covers ⇒ item 3 and ⇒ item 16 to the front

– Remove screws ⇒ item 15

– Take out rear ashtray ⇒ item 11 and release plug for rear ashtray illumination

– Take out rear flow vent ⇒ item 10

– Remove screws ⇒ item 13 and remove rear support ⇒ item 12

– Pull on the handbrake and push the centre console upwards

– Release plug from cigarette lighter and from central locking switch

Can some one tell me what item 8 is in this picture? It moves up and down freely, but no idea what it does? Thanks.

It is the cooling/heating duct in to the jumbo box.

Useful for keeping your mars bars cool in summer, or melting them in winter emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

It allows cool air from the A/C in to cool the jumbo box - up to cool, down to close.

Ahh Andyvee you beat me to it. Lol

Edited by Anddenton

It allows the cars aircon/heating into the box to cool or heat by lifting the lever up to allow airflow. So what ever the heating is set it in the car that's the tempeture the box will be.

Thanks for all the answers! Brilliant!

Hello

– Take out rear flow vent ? item 10

Is it possible to take out the rear flow vent (item 10) without disassembling the console?

Could anybody give any hint how to do it?

Thank you in advance.

Yep - had this damaged so replaced it, if I remember, just give it a tug at edges and will come out.
