Start to finish detailing

Featured Replies

Hi, what do i need to be using on my silver fabia VRS from start to finish. I never no what order to do things in and what the best products to use are?

Ok...

I would buy;

2 buckets

Wash mitt (lamb wool or something)

Some plush microfibre clothes

Big waffle weave towel for drying

Some wash (I use NXT wash)

Clay bar set, any mild set will do (clay + spray)

Polish (Autoglym super resin polish)

Wax (Collonite 476 or similar)

Then some alloy cleaner, tyre dressing and metal polisher of your choice. Most of them will do the job.

Autoglym are pretty reliable to go with.

There are so many good products out there so it's worth having a search and trying some out yourself :)

More very useful guides at Car Care and Detailing Advice

Warning - detailing gets adictive and will cost you a fortune - but worth it IMHO with the satisfaction of seeing your car looking good.

detailing gets expensive is an understatement!

Id dread to add up how much ive spent over the the last 6 months or so.

Car does look awesome though

Tell me when you have a day off, and you can do mine....................LOL

I've been looking at a silver and am thinking of the following products:

- Bilt Hamber clay (with Megs LT)

- Menz final finish II polish

- Klasse AOI (2 or 3 layers)

- Klasse Glaze

- Collinite 476 (2 or 3 layers)

This is all going to be done by hand or maybe assisted by a halfords dual action polisher if I go and borrow one. The reason for this is that a PC is too expensive once you have the transformer etc in the price.

I was going to give this ago and see what the effects are.

Pre-wash with Megs Super degreasant

Pre-soak with Super snow foam

Rinse

Washed with Lambswool Mitt using the 2 bucket system

Dried with Waffle weave towels

Megs mild clay bar and quick detailer

Meguiars Polishing pad and Auto glym deep Polish

Sealed with Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection

Waxed with Collinite 476 car Wax

Tyres dressed with Meguiars Endurance Gel

Try a diluted stardrops solution instead of the super degreasant a lot cheaper and just as effective :)

Also if you can tolerate being seen near a vauxhall dealer they sell 1L of Sonax gloss shampoo for under £5.
