Car totalled on way to work!

Featured Replies

A lovely lady decided that she would 'Re-arrange' the side of my Felicia this morning on the way to work. She creamed into the near side of the car on a roundabout (at which I had right of way). She clipped the front wheel and the rest of the damage is concentrated on the centre of the car. She pushed the 'B pillar' into the car by a good 6 inches, the front passenger door is pushed into the car by about a foot! The lower sill is dented. All in all prety well fubarred. Gutted as she only had 32k miles on her. And after all the time and effort I spent in finding the alloys. Grrrr!!!

Bugger!

I bet you are gutted.

Did you kill her?

I take it you and the perpetrator are OK?

Really sorry to hear of the crash too.:(

oh dear, sorry to hear that!!

can i have first refusal on your gearbox :sofahide:

Sorry to hear that - glad you're OK, though (and the woman if I'm being a complete humanist! ;) ) It's only a bit of tin etc. etc. etc.

That's the kind of thing that just shouldn't happen... :(

Small consolation that you now have a lot of spare parts for your next car. :P

That's dead then.

Unlucky!

ah thats a bit ****, insurance will try doing you over very well now...last time i looked fellys were valued at less than a grand....

you gonna look for another one now?

Unlucky :(

I take it there is no chance of a repair job then?

When the B pillar is bent it's scrap

Sorry to hear the bad news, total bummer; glad you were all able to walk away

Glad you're OK.

I was lucky only my rear wing got bent

Mine was a borderline write off

Bought for £745 the year before and they offered £1100

But luckily they put a new wing on

What type alloys have you got?

Well I bought the car for £1000 so I'm expecting at least that back. The trick with insurance companies is to refuse the first offer of settlement. It's always a bit of a **** take on their behalf. I even had the 3rd party insurer call me this afternoon and say that they could deal with the claim if I wanted them to - to save me going through my insurers. Ahh don't theeenk e'll be verry keen. Her insurers offering me a settlement figure? D'oh!

Anyhoo - the insurance company will probably write the car off, so none of it will belong to me. I will be removing the alloys and putting the steel wheels back on, so there may be a set of 15" BBS alloys in the offing. I'll let you know nearer the time. One of them has a bit of scrape-age due to a Peugeot 206CC going into it a bit, but the rest are OK. I'll probably pop them on Fleabay - I'll let you know when I do (unless I have an offer I cannot refuse before then.....!)

15" BBS wheels? Too big for my Felly.

if they were the Skoda 13/14" I would have been interested.

I am unsure if my Felly would take 15s

When my Astra 95 got written off

Bought car in 2001 for £3300 at 33k miles

Written off at 2005. Got £1000 for it which I was pleased about but the excess was a whopping £400.

Now I'm 26 my excess is only £100

gutted mate, another good nick felly gone from the roads.

the felly can take 15's. 15/7j is the tops really.

Mine looks groovy on 15 inches - phnar..... 6.5J BTW - nice and snug but no problems with clearance etc. Thanks for all the well wishes too - both of us were fine after the accident - though I do have a bit of a twinge in my back now. Time will tell if it develops into anything more serious....

does hurt to see if the insurance company will sell it back to you as scrap, did this on my daughters metro  and it was still drivable.

Glad you are both ok

GRRRR!!! Bloody idiots on the road.

Your poor car... was sooo pretty too with those alloys. They're VERY similar to the standard ones on the felicia that i have.

Just take it steady with your back, would take a visit to the docs.

Dont want to do your back in all for the sake of some silly bint!!!

That looks like a really smart Felly mate

That crappola 206 looks like it came off worst

From the looks of it your Felly looks like its suffered only minor damage and maybe that B-Pillar could even be fixed.

A little off topic here

I was wondering about modern car design.

they are heavier and more powerful but it seems they are taking simple things away like bulb changes in some cars required the front end of the car to be dismantled and even the spare wheels changed from full size to space savers and foam

You'd be well screwed if a bulb went on a pitch black road then, or if a puncture happened.

If you had a fully loaded car would a space saver wheel or foam even take the weight?

And they get written off quicker as if anything remotely damages the safety cell its a write off.

P.S. - my insurance co doesn't sell the salvage. Not many do nowadays due to the strict laws governing disposal. As it's not a cosmetic write off there's no choice but for it to go to a breakers.

It's a Pug 206CC. I don't think newer cars are bigger and heavier necessarily - they're just fitting more in and using better technology to protect the occupants. Her side airbag went off but my driver one didn't (thankfully). I was just glad I wasn't on my other toy - a ZZR1200, I wouldn't be here now if I was.

What reg is your Felly? and engine?

If its a newer one check the market value and see what your insurers offer.

Then buy another and when you're asked to take your possessions strip your car of everything you can.

I made the mistake of just taking my stereo out of my Astra 95.

I should have taken the door speakers as they were really good, plus the jack and reversible screw driver.

Seriously anything you can take out, do it if they write it off.

Sorry about this mate.

If you had been on the Kawasaki, you would not have been there at that time :)

Just sold mine :(

sorry to hear about the acident.

Those alloys also look very similar to my standard alloys too

Yeah if my car gets written off- the seats, alloys, door cards, headunit, full sound system, is coming out.

On second thought id need 4 wheels to replace the alloys with.

zzr1200  Luckiy git :D
