NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, Not on a petrol, The consequences will be expensive:eek:

Nipple in filler tube at "front-side-of-tube". Looks like a plastic ****, but if you poke it with the filler nozzle it move inwards and you can hear the air escaping. Holds quite a lot.

Tried editing, but failed - sorry - the ***s indicate a common word for a small round piece of door furniture used as a handle. The software obviously thought it was naughty. Try to think of a smooth toothpaste tube cap intruding about 3" down from top.

I did 5 miles with the car telling me I had 0 miles left in the tank. It hasn't broken yet (Well, the engine hasn't, the brakes are my fault anyway)

Ah, so its actually inside the filler neck... Thats why i cant see it then :o:thumbup:

haha, being at uni, my car regularly gets driven around with 0 on the guage! i can get about 30 on empty before i get worried and fill up!

The fuel filter takes care of all particulates etc, unless you happen to drive a Ford TDCi where the fuel pump rollers disintegrate and the swarf somehow gets to the injectors and knackers them........

First I've heard of it and don't think I've seen it mentioned on the Mondeo forums. Is it the Ford TDCI engine (Mondeo) or the PSA TDCI engine (Focus)?

The only horror story I've heard related to running below 1/4 tank was on the Scooby where hard cornering could shift enough fuel away from the pump to cause fuel starvation to the engine usually coupled with a big dose of lift off oversteer and browner trousers! Never saw it in practise though so may just be hearsay.

I don't tend to run my car too low just because I don't want to have the hassle of trying to find somewhere to fill up if I'm in a hurry :D
