to de-badge or not to

Featured Replies

I am in two minds wether to lose the vRS badge from the rear. This is mainly for entertainment value but I am sick of people trying it on.

Proud and loud!

Did mine at the weekend as I too am sick of people trying it on just because of the vRS badge!

I also think (hope) it draws less unwanted attention when parked up and I quite like the smooth look it gives anyway.

Debadge rear and front if you want to remove temptation from those with light fingers and/or heavy feet. :(

I debaged mine, purely so it was easier when polishing it..lol

I like the front v symbol, theres just something about it I really like.

Before I dented it somewhat, I enjoyed a de-badged era... Got the badges on ebay at the moment as it happens!:rolleyes: I do like the look though.

Rebadge.

My RS was a 1.4 16v on the back, people behind left me alone on the whole. Left the V on the front so those I was catching knew what it was.

My current car is a "1.9 SDI". Make of that what you will :D

Rebadge.
:offtopic: This thread is about whether to debadge or not! :grumpy:

1.4 16V owner...

It was a further option for him to consider, oh grumpy one :P

I too followed Jon's brilliant example and have a 1.4 badge, none of this 16v lark.

However as Denis points out your asking bout debadging so personally I would.

Of course the OTT WRC wing adds to the max muppet effect I am aiming for, least I think it does...

Too many characters for you in 1.2 MPI, Colin?

Another Vote for rebadging here.... the 200SX owner actually belived colinDs car was a 1.4 for a while!

De badge....

no indication of capability is more intriguing....

Just tried to take the front badge off the grille on the fab vrs  as I too am receiving very unwelcome attention from nova/corsa drivers, and dodgy looking characters walking past at night. Resorted to black insulating tape for now!

Love it when these young turnips pull up alongside in the saxo o.l.a.m.i.a.r.d.,at the traffic lights thinking they're on for a race. Green, spinning wheels and ..gone.I just drive off at normal speed and grin to myself :D C.J.

:thumbdwn: Oh yeah,except once,but I don't talk about that anymore,and don't do that anymore either. :P

How does that front badge come off the grilla? Is it welded on 'cus I can't see any clips or 'owt  C.J.

With the bonnet open, and looking through the grille from the rear, can you seen any adhesive on the back of the badge, ie sticky pad as used on other badges?

A cautionary tale on rebadging. If you do change the badge on the rear of your car, make sure that the dealer doesn't quote that as the model on the service invoice like mine did. I have the only 1.4 16V to get a Haldex oil change, and on a variable service at that! :(

Less of an issue with an RS Denis, they are different to more humble models.

I can't denis, but that seems to be the only way it could possibly be held on!

I'll 'tickle it with the heat gun gently 2nite and see what happens. Shame to take it off really 'cus I like them.Could always paint them black I suppose as an alternative, might make it look as though you are proud of what you've got..which I am..very..unbelievably so..but don't want to shout to the world about it. Tar den. C.J.

Another  for debadging. Got sick of all the hassle from Audi and Golf TDI's trying to make me race them (what's all that about?!?! ) and it does look much better now too :)
