To add to what Paul has said.....LV won't charge you for any mods...bar engine capacity changes.

Who are LV please ?

Liverpool Victoria. the Remap drivers friend

You will find them listed under Car Insurance in our web links here. Ring them rather than use their online system and declare all the mods you have fitted.

Adrian. always call first, if they have an online quote on file, then that's the quote you get on the phone too, they're good, but they're not stupid ;)

Geoff. I thought off this to....but after I done the online quote.

I always use the online quotes to get a feel of what I'd expect to pay.

Would a turbo conversion be frowned upon?

LV only "frown" upon engine capacity increases, anything else goes.

It's wise to check with them first though, but it shouldn't be a problem :)

Sounds good, my insurance is due early August all i need now is a buyer for the Harley and im laughing

Steve- just when i started to get a boner you go and flick it :(

Maybe the best approach is to have all mods done before you insure with them ,that way they cant pull a number on you.

Steve

Just watch out for LV peeps...

And what about the countless cases of people who have questioned LV time & time again on mods and been told the complete opposite of what that Scooby owner was told?

And our very own Jason with a well-modded Furby, who wrote it off and got paid out with no probs?

Either Mr Scooby isnt telling the whole story, or someone at LV simply made a mistake ;)

I'm not concerned in the slightest.

Just wanted pople to be carefull out there. Get everything you are told in writing and then you are safe.

Steve

From reading the thread on Scoobynet it may just be that LV don't like Scooby imports for some reason

Had no problem getting a quote out of LV... was just not competitive enough. Am now with Adrian Flux and all mods declared.

Getting quotes for my soon to be jabba'd Octavia last week, GREENLIGHT offered a cheaper premium (albeit by 25 quid) than L.V. This was for fully comp., protected no claims, with 3 points on licence :o on a 230 bhp estimate. They said that further mods such as exhaust or wheels would NOT affect the premium as long as they were fully detailed.

L.V. said they weren't concerned about mods, but also didn't ask about my occupation, where car was kept, points, or if I had a ncb.

Basically the person I spoke to was a bit vague, and it didn't help that they didn't speak very good English!

IMHO I think I would rather be with a company who know the score with the car and have charged appropriately for mods (and are still cheaper) than one which didn't ask many questions and would leave me feeling uneasy in the event of a claim (their policy on mods could change at any time). I know other people are happy and have claimed successfully with L.V., this is just my opinion based on my experience with the two companies :)

So you went for the cheaper option then :) .............only joking !

LV's insurance also covers you for unlimited business use , rather than the usual social , domestic and pleasure , which in a lot of cases could be very useful .

LV which IIRC is owned by Frizzell (or the other way round) has recently been taken over, I have found that the customer service levels have fallen off dramatically and the policies are changing they are really trimming down what they include and expanding what you have to pay for. Their compulsory excess's are going up and so are their premiums.

For example my renewal is due at the end of the month they quoted me 1000 pounds UP from last year (yep an increase of a grand!!!!!) my excess has gone up from 150 to 400 and that is without the legal cover / courtesy car that was included last year, I haven't had an accident or been convicted for anything, they also will not try to improve on their quotes as they no longer price match. They also did this to my sister and my parents.

The guy who was having the trouble had a modified UK car. It definetly sounds like it's who you speak to on the day that matters. I think I'll stick with Greenlight.
