London Cruise feeler

Featured Replies

I was reading about a site called fb5k who do London cruises through the tunnels and past the sights. How many on here would be up for one on a saturday night?

After Christmas would be best for me... and not when the congestion charges are active!

Sounds like a cool idea.

shame really, people moan that there isnt enough to do in the way of meets, yet you spend time organising stuff to find no one wants to come or cant make it and then they go on to moan there isnt any meets to go to!!! :(

I think the majority of people here will be more likely to distance themselves from anything involving the word "cruise".

I think the problem also is that there isn't a very high proportion of people that actually live in London and to a certain extent the London area.

Driving through London is a pain in the ar5e anytime of day or night. I should imagine trying to stick into a convoy would be difficult with all the enevitable road works, red light cameras etc. Also we need to pick our areas carefully, because lets me honest if we proudly drove a load of Skodas through a rougher part of London we will no doubt end up getting stabbed.

lol nothing like a bright out look

it can be good fun, ive seen a few organised. as long as everyone knows where they are going and theres plenty of stops its a good trip.

what about doing one through the country? stopping at some choice local pubs (for soft drinks of course ;))

^ I'm up for that :D

Why would you want to drive around in dirty, smelly, congested London when you can go for a drive round some cracking country A and B roads

my mate own's a scooby and recently went on a 'cruise' called a tunnel run. it was basically a huge number of scooby, around the 200 mark i think driving in a convoy 'ish' through the tunnels in and around london. they met at about 9 at lakeside and then did the dartford, blackwall and a few others before returning back through the dartford tunnel to finish at 2 in da morning.

so it was definately outside the congestion charging times.

they even managed to get a police escort though the dartford. my mate said that the lead police car went at about 50mph through the tunnel but the scooby boys held back then booted it catching up wit the police car. apparently the noise of the exhausts, the smell of un burnt fuel was amazing. the odd fireball was evident from a number of the cars present aswel.

each person also got a sticker that looked like the gumball run stickers aswell. to say that it was well organised would be an understatement. well worth talking to them and seeing what they do smstext.

any chance of some links, this is what i was basing it on!!

I live in Barking (ESSEX/ LONDON)

Tunnal runs are the NUTS! I did a few in my BMW. As long as you avoide the Limehouse link tunnal (due to it being a 30 zone with 3 ******* cammers in it).

I would be up for a London meet and starting a Lakeside is a good idea as its very easy to get to. A good land mark!

Ah a man of experience, would you like to organise it ;) especially with your knowledge that you have gained from previous tunnel runs ;)

what above trying to organise a dummy run? get a few people who are up for it and try planning the route?

or you could find out when someone else is doing it and tag along for a giggle?

Thinking about it, this would be loads of fun.

Why not suggest a date in spring when the weather will be warmer and then see how much momentum it gathers?

I'd be up for it, but I'm a VW driver, so don't want to spoil the convoy - although I'm happy to go at the back ;)

Well im new to the whole Skoda thing. :P

Only picked up my vRS two weeks before Christmas. I would be happy to supply a rote if you want to do the advertising front (dont know many pople from the site at the moment, or who own a Skoda).

Lakside Shopping centre is always a good place to start as its just of the M25 (last junction, well sign posted).

Cant see why VDubs should be exluded the more the better i think

Saturday nights are always good, no C charge for one thing!

Feb would be a good time

Do you realize who this lot are and how silly you will look when you turn up in a Fabia.
