Featured Replies

hiya to you all.

hav'nt been on the site for a long time as been building another project:).

am after a bit of advice about how to do the brakes on my 2003 skoda octavia vrs, manily the rear ones. have heard that i have to screw the caliper back in? how do you do that and do i need a special tool? is there anything i should note when doing both front and rear (does anything need disconnecting?)

also does anybody know where is the best place to get them from as there seems to be a vast difference in price!

thanks for any help

I can get a tool for aboiut £15/20 I think - eurocar parts or gsf maybe?..... I used something I fabricated myself.... but was a bit of a pain in the ar$e... as I coupled it up witha g-clamp to provide some pressure to do witj the rotation.

 am gonna see if i can borrow a tool to do the job;)

ta mate. anymore help would be great:)

Just buy the tool mate, got mine from my local car spares place, under a cocken!

Haynes claim you can use a pair of circlip pliers, but I'm inclined to agree with all the above and say "just get the proper tool"...

I think that using circlip pliers on the rear piston would take rather a lot of effort!! However I was just about able to tension my cambelt adjuster with a pair!
