vrs steering noise?

Featured Replies

hi all,

i've had my new vrs mk2 for about 6 weeks now and it's started to emit a sort of spring stretching noise from the steering when parking or slow speed maneovering,

any ideas what it could be anyone?

cheer's derek.:)

Is it brand new or one of the earlier ones?

They do make a little bit of noise but some of the earlier ones had defective steering racks.

Sept 06 just over 12 months from new and guess what...........exactly the same thing, seems to have just started, low speed and mainly on turning circle when parking!

Problem is, Skoda tend not to be interested, and i can lay a bet now that if i book it in to my local not so friendly dealer that, yes, you guessed, NFF...........:finger:

You know the answer don't you.

Call me old fashioned Stu but defective steering kinda worries me a bit

Mine's an 06 model (registered in June 06) - would you class this as an early one?

Touch wood, mine's fine at the moment.

If you don't have the groaning noises then chances are you aren't affected.

Groaning on full lock accompanied by lights dimming?

No that's probably normal as you've got the steering rack fully extended and the pump is still trying to push

Always thought the power steering was electric.......just a thought

It is. It's an electric pump.

Another thought......if the power steering is hydraulic driven by an electric pump.....where's the reservoir for the fluid ?
