Revs up quicker with clutch dipped

Featured Replies

This is normal right?

If I sit in my car in neutral, clutch out, and boot it - it takes perhaps 2 seconds to redline it. If do the same thing but with the clutch dipped, in gear or not, it takes around 1 second.... Is this common with the vRS. Speaking to someone with an Audi A4 with the same engine and he said he'd never noticed a difference. Mine definitely spins up faster with the clutch in and I'm not sure why?

Its normal, less bits to turn with the pedal depressed.

less drag J

That's why it's more mechanically sympathetic to always start up with the clutch in - less mass/inertia to overcome..

Taking it a happy step further - the SMF will let you rev faster - far less inertia.

I wonder if mine's arrived yet? :D I'm away in Bristol all this week so am hoping it's home for Friday. Fitting planned for Dec 15th. Along with a load of other stuff too - bit of an overhaul for the old mongrel. :D
