Headlight Lens.

Featured Replies

Hi: I have a Mk2 Octavia which I bought used. The drivers side indicator section of the headlight lens is different from passenger side. It seems to be a white colour and not clear like the other one. It also doesn't appear to fit as good as the passenger side round the edge (doesn't appear to be flush). Has it been replaced by the wrong one and why is it a different colour. There also appears to be like paint flaked off near the reflector part.

Could you post a pic or two so we can have a look for you?

The headlight and indicator is a single unit and it might not be fitted correctly or misaligned if the car has taken a knock.

The white colour could be condensation inside the fitting.

Thanks but don't have a camera. Would it be difficult to replace it and how much?

Don't know about price but replacing is easy (see "New octavia tips and tricks" sticky post)

could it (i maybe wrong) where a bulb which is running at a to high wattage has been used and has slowly cooked the light?

Going by the OP it's the indicator part of the fitting that has gone cloudy,I would put money on condensation and the fitting may be damaged somewhere (maybe from a knock) letting water into the fitting.

check the drain holes are not blocked.

As a matter of interest...is there drain holes actually inside the headlamp or are you referring to something else ? :)

IIRC the Octy II lamps do have air vent holes and there was a bulletin somewhere about them.

Hi: Please forgive me for replying to my own question as I can't find how to start a new question I have to use this one. Could someone tell me how to post a new question please? Thanks!

Go back to the 'Octavia II' page and near the top left there is a button with 'Start new thread' on it. Click it and you'll start a new thread of your own.
