Day-Running lights and ECU

Featured Replies

Hello, was wondering if anyone knew if the fab vrs's ECU had a'day-running lights' facility that I could activate?

I'm looking at doing a DIY mod on my headlights and fitting some custom ultrabright white LED light-strip units to use as day-running lights.

Also, would appreciate any recommendations on best ECU POWER/ECONOMY TDi modules.

Cheers

how come you want lights on in the day?

If you have a registered VAG-COM cable you can contact Ross Tech directly and ask them.

Safety & visibility I would have thought. I have driven with my lights on at all times for years.

i admit to having mine on when on motorways, but thats cos the car is black and most idiots on the motorway are blind (and still pull out either way).

thought it was only volvos that did lol

I tend to put my lights on when I'm overtaking... just to make myself more visible in case something is going to start coming the other way...

there is an option on vag com, think its called scandonavia lights.

 like it's some sort of social no no

I have my side lights on whenever it's even slightly murky (basically whenever the sun's not cracking the flags). I think it makes my car more visible, especially given the fact that my car is grey and therefore less likely to be seen by other drivers than, say, a bright yellow one.

I assume there is an option for this - as this is a standard feature on all fabias sold here in norway

i always drive with my lights on

They soon move out the way round here, seeing xenons coming up on them in a dark car which does like similar to an unmarked law enforcer ;)

As people have quoted, there are too many idiots who don't see you-especially with having a black car. I also drive on 4 motorways to work so i thought the lights might come in handy.

Back on topic - is it possible to activate via VAGCOM or not?

It seems that nobody here knows at the moment so as I said above -

If you have a registered VAG-COM cable you can contact Ross Tech directly and ask them.

theres the scandinavia lights option on vag com shouldnt that do it or the american driving lights?

Remember this is on a Fabia Paul not an Octy II with CANBUS and long coding.

Cheers to all for responding, unfortunately I haven't got a registered VAG-COM cable and/or VAG-COM software on my laptop at the mo. Might sound obvious, but I don't suppose anyone could tell me where I could get this kit from? Would be pretty useful for other poss. diagnostics/settings issues in future. :o

Also, I've decided to wire in some pure white 12V LED strips in as part of my sidelight assembly. Will try to fit them inside both headlight assemblies if I can!!! Just in proces of designing a basic voltage regulator circuit for both lights. Has anyone else had a go at anything like this?

ross-tech.com is the best place to get a legit VAG-COM.

Just seen the thread on the 'knocking from the front' on Fabias. I've had a knocking sound on my vRS since I bought it second hand ('53-plate 2004). I've not looked at anti-roll bars on it myself but I tend to hear the knocking when I drive over smaller bumps/rough road surfaces at lower speeds and its a bit intermittent.

Also I've noticed at higher speed recently (motorway driving) I get vibration through the front when I'm accelerating uphill. Anyone any ideas what this could be?

I know I'm inquisitive tonight but if you don't ask the questions you don't get the answers!!!!

Cheers

Update -

I think I may have solved your problem.

You'll need a retrofit kit part number BEA 409 001 A which will give you daytime running lights.
