Introductions, Tyres and Theft.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Firstly let me introduce myself. I have owned a yellow VRS for the last 8 months and have been having a great deal of fun with it ever since. I previously owned a Saxo VTR but wanted a car with more quality, power and space for my daily commute into London from Hertfordshire. My car is Superchipped to 220 bhp which has proved well worth the money. I have been monitoring the forums for the last few months so that I get a better understanding of my car.

I have been prompted to write because of two current issues I could do with some advice about (forgive me if these questions have been asked before but I just want to be sure before spending out on the wrong thing).

The first issue concerns my tyres. With 22,000 miles on the clock the front Dunlops need changing. I have the standard 17

1. yes

2. 225.45.17

3. dunlops ****e go for p zero nero.

4. see 3

window should be 50quid excess phone your insurance.. glass does not affect no claims.

welcome!

I had my windows smashed on a new 328 BMW I once had in 2001. Went to dealer, paid

Welcome aboard Kev......225/45 17 are the tyres to go for (i`m in the trade) personal pref; is the Goodyear F1, but the pirelli are as good.....both i feel run quieter than the Dunlops. F1 will give supreme grip although the downside to increased grip is quicker tyre wear........yes the tyres go on ok, and yes fronts to back i`m afraid

Sorry to hear about the break in (scum)

PM me if you want some prices on tyres.......Phil

1. Yes

2. 225/45 17 is best.

3. Yes and no, depends what tyres you pick

4. Depends on your usage criteria. 225/45s are more plentiful and cheaper than the 205/50s. Do you want one that lasts well and is a reasonable performer? One that doesn't last as long but sticks like the brown stuff to a blanket? Michelin Pilot Sport and Zero Nero respectively, IMHO

Window? Call your insurance co and they will sort it for you, just costs the XS (between

For tyres I have always used www.essex-tyres.co.uk . They are in Crays Hill near Basildon and have found their prices excellent.
