wait for it

2GRAND! for insurance

on a 1.3 .. same with a 1.1 fiesta oddly enough too.

Ouch - that's gotta hurt.

Thats ridiculous!! How old are you?! Any points etc.

Costs me £660 fully comp at 21 with 6 points for me 1.3!!

Ring around or try confused.com - my quotes ranged from £320 to £875 and I'm an old git with a diesel Mondeo!

No prizes for guessing which quote I took ;)

Chris

Sadly I think this is the way things are with younger drivers. When I passed my test things were not as bad as they are now, and they wonder why so many people drive uninsured.

Chap in work was paying 1.5K TPF&T for a Rover Coupe.

I'm guessing you're 17 and have only just passed your test?

There are insurers who specialise in such people, and if you're a student you could try Endsleigh (I think thats how its spelt) as they were way cheaper than anyone else when I was at uni.

that's a lot!

my insurance has HALVED this year!

I pay £7.80 a month for a Felicia 1.3 fully comp........Glad I'm 50...SAGA

Try the National Farmers Union

You will find a cheaper quote than that, Try, tesco, privilige, churchill, prudential, they were all very good quotes when i was younger. Good luck!

Presumably that's as a provisional licence holder? Should come down a bit when you pass your test....

Not always the case Chris........When there learning to drive they have a Qualified Driver sat next to them. When they've past there test they don't.....There on there own charging about...In our case the Insurance went up......

Ahhhh Glad I'm Old! £300 For My Corrado and £400 for the Furby :)

do your pass plus course when you've passed your test... most insurers will then knock of up 30%... so a £1,000 insurance bill will come down to £700 ;)

Endorsements or points 7 times for no insurance when I was younger & it cost me about the same overall, tho I did lose my license too. Best to ring round as suggested.

My best quotes for the past 19 years or so have been with either the AA or Directline, tho 6 months time and £7.80 a month HERE I COME :woot:

its not any different to 10 years ago when i was in the same position, on my own on a 1988 950cc mk2 fiesta popular plus(it had rear wash wipe!!) was about £1300 and i can't remember if that was comp or tpft, at 18 i bought a brand bnew corsa and got free insurance on it but it got broken into resulting in needing part of the dash replaced(they broke it to steal the stereo), a window or two and various other things sorting out which took 3 weeks and as a result my cheapest quotes the following year were 2k upwards so i traded in for another car with free insurance as it was cheaper.

insurance is crazy :(

I'd advise waiting until you have a full licence.

When I was 19/20 I was getting quotes of up to £2k on 1.0 Polos

BUT I did find that my price quotes with some firms dropped when I added my Dad as a named driver. although now im older they charge £20 extra.

Also your excess is likely to be huge about £400.

I was on my Dads Insurance from 2001 to 2004 (age 23) then I bought my own which cost me £970 (Direct Line) for a 1995 Astra which was the lowest quote at the time.

I wrote the car off sometime in the 11th month in an embarassing low speed supermarket shunt.

Got £1k for the car which was good but minus £400 for the excess.

My Skoda I was 24 going on 25 when I bought it in 2006 and I paid £965 for the insurance with Admiral.

This year I paid £700 with Kwik Fit.

When you're 25 your policy prices will drop as will your excess. .

Its worth noting the 10 month accelerator policys. It might be worth it for new younger drivers but I really felt that it wasn't worth the money.

**edit**Free insurance deals one word of advice dont be swayed by them. Theres no point getting a Corsa with free insurance if you don't like the Corsa.

Edit 2 - All prices shown are for fully comp.

i did like the corsa though :)

and i still use 10 month policies or i will unitl i have full no claims :)

Well each to their own I guess but for me the 10 month thing didnt work with me turning 25 during my policy period.

I paid £1k last year on the Vrs then my renewal came through with first years NCB and it went up! :finger: Shopped around and I eventually got it cheaper.

Well each to their own I guess but for me the 10 month thing didnt work with me turning 25 during my policy period.

i'm now 26 and still do 10 months policies, maybe not next time on the skoda seeing as i'll have 5 years NCB but definitly on my second car as i am still building my NCB on my second policy.

When i got my provisional i got a special policy for new drivers that was i think a 9 month policy but i got a years no-claims after that time so worked out cheaper as i would have a years no claims after 9 months by which time i had passed my test too anyway so saved loads of money.

This is who i went with when i had a provisional license:

Insurance Connections

Admiral - v cheap for young drivers, were always the cheapest for me.
