Turbo running down

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Can anyone advise if it is necessary to let the turbo on a Fabia VRS run down for a minitue or so before shutting down. I have heard lots of advice for and against this practice so what is the general practice amongst Fabia VRS users?:)

run it down for a minute or two after a hard run, just to keep the oil circulating round the turbo, this is good practise on a vrs as the turbo's are a bit of a weak link

I recently blew my turbo up and have had a new one fitted under warrenty - kudos to the garage they where absolutly fantastic. But on a side note I have got my car booked in on Monday to have a HKS turbo timer fitted. I really don't know if it was the lack of Turbo-Run-Down that caused my turbo to fail, because I sure as hell treated her well and never booted her cold, nor booted her at low revs.

I am not sure really if a turbo timer is really warrented on a TDi; but if it means I don't have to go through the ordeal again I really don't think it can hurt.
