Quick warranty question

Featured Replies

Tomorrow i'll be ringing my dealer's sevice dept to ask if they'll fix my leaking doors under the 12 month warranty they gave me on my second hand 04 Fabia vRS.

Firstly, what are my chances of them saying 'yes, no problem, bring it in'?

Secondly, will i need to remove the mods listed in my signature or shouldn't they make a difference to what i'm claiming for? I would understand if i was trying to get a new clutch and them saying no because of the re-map but i would have thought that none of the mods would lead to my doors leaking so they may be ok about them, what do you guys reckon?

Also, what can i expect them to do or, what should i ask them to do? i.e.:

Treat for corrosion.

Renew paint/sealer on footwell

Renew carpets

Renew mats

Reseal front and rear doors

Thanx in advance guys

it all depends what it says in your terms and conditions booklet that came with the 12 month warranty, water leaks may not be covered

I'm sure my brother had the door seals on his Fabia vRS replaced under warranty. His was bought new though. I would doubt this should make any difference, but as Dads-VRS has said check the terms of your warranty. Regarding the mods, I would take out the sat nav, they may think you've driven into a river LOL. Hope it is covered and it's water tight soon. Either that or buy a proper car. LOL

Anyone else got any thoughts, i'll be ringing them in the morning! :o

Whip off the tuning box and not to worry about the rest.

If it is the leaking door carriers, then it is just a case of silicon sealanting the bottom of them.

I would think it should be covered.

AFAIK

Only "consumables" such as the tyres, clutch (prob depending on how soon it actually develops a fault) are not covered as these are items that wear and tear more than anything else.

Although this may have changed with companies like Hyundai and Kia covering clutches with their 5 or 7 year/100k miles warranties.

This should be explained in the handbook.

Warranties are transferable. And you can buy additional warranties should you wish to at Warranty Direct

Rang them this morning, spoke to a really helpful guy who says he will sort the problem out for me next week. Jobs a gud un

Good news then mate.

if you get the same treatment as on a skoda warranty then they should replace the carpets too, as tghey will probably smell a bit by now.

mostly the warrenty will not cover things broken because of a modification (i.e a turbo when its been remapped) so I can't see your mods affecting a claim for door seals :)

Just to be on the safe side I'd remove the 'Rosary beads blessed by the pope'... so they can't blame it on an act of God :D
