Fabia VRS Lowering

Featured Replies

I've been looking to lower my Fabia VRS using the Eibach Pro Kit springs - Pt No 10-79-001-05-22.

My only concern is the change to the camber of the vehicle.

I know the front alignment (tracking) can be easily adjusted, but both the front a rear suspensions do not seem to have anywhere to adjust for camber changes.

Has any one lowered their car, and taken camber readings before and afterwards, or has every one taken the 'stick your head in the sand' approach and ignored any change in camber?

Andy

The change is very minimal in the camber on the Eibach springs, its less that 30 minutes and that helps cornering without scrubbing any tyres so dont worry.

I think the spec for the front axle is 39 mins neg camber (+-30 mins)and mine runs just over 1 degree neg and is wearing tyres evenly across the tread (all be it quite quickly though ;) )

Hope this helps

Ross,

Did you alter the camber on fitting your springs, or leave it the same?

If you did alter it, how did you manage to alter it with only the one pinch bolt at the bottom of the strut - usually there are 2 pinch bolts with elongated holes to allow for camber changes, but the fabia is not designed to be altered with its one pinch bolt?

Your advise is much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

There is a small amount of camber adjustment available. Most modern VAG cars adjust on the three bolts on the lower ball joint. This however has the effect of altering the castor aswell. Also it is worth pointing out that there is next to bugger all adjustment on the ball joints unless you have a TT or S3. If camber is uneven the front subframe needs to be shifted over to balance.

I fitted my springs and dampers and only needed to correct the toe, camber was fine and in balance. Like I said 1 degree is within tolerance and perfectly acceptable on the lower springs. If you aim for a couple of minutes more neg camber on the n/s this will compensate for the drainage camber on most roads and stop it wandering left.
