Lowering springs, remap

Featured Replies

Hey guys this is my first thread so go easy. I have an 04 plate vrs which i have had for 3 months after finally finding the the right one after 1 year and 6 months looking. Now i really want to lower the car and was thinking H&R lowering springs or eibach ones. Certain people who i have spoke to have said this will not affect the handling or ride of the car like i thought it would. Anyone had an experiences? or any advice? Also want to re map the car as cheap as possible any ideas?

the general consensus is that the Eibach springs are the best place to start if you don't want/need the expense of shockers

the springs work perfectly well on the standard shocks , its what i've been running since the middle of last year

the best mod for handling on the VRS is the Jabba rear ARB

As ever, suspension is a compromise. Decide what you really want and go for it :)

i've used eibachs on both the beetle and the mkv golf and been happy with both in terms of ride and finished stance. as for remaps where are you based? if you dont mind a visit to stratford upon avon I can higly recommend a custom tuner friend of mine called DNA Tuning.

if you remap then you should uprate the brakes, safety first:thumbup:

"Remap as cheap as possible"

What makes me think there will be a :-

"My clutch is slipping, what's the cheapest solution"

Posting just around the corner.

Agreed - why not get the best remap you can afford, rather than the cheapest which might work out the most expensive in the end!

I ran Eibach springs and dampers and found them really good without compromising ride comfort :D

Hi

Agree with the above

Eibach springs and a good remap

We are doing custom remaps at the moment , so we can do it all under 1 roof and you will get a rolling road printout afterwards too ;)

If the car is not too old with high mileage , then yes springs on their own will be OK

But do a search on FSD`s and also Eibach shockers are good on this car too

Take your time and look about

As has been said , cheapest is not always best

how is the ride with eibach springs and standard shocks?

let me know if you want to discuss a remap on your furby as I've just had something rather nice proposed for mine through the other forum i use. probably best to discuss via PM

how is the ride with eibach springs and standard shocks?

The comfort feels just like standard, but lower. Better turn in, better braking stability, better general feel.

Big thumbs up from me!

Having driven the cars with and without Eibach dampers, I'd recommend doing the dampers as well if you can afford it. Makes the ride more comfortable than with the standard dampers without losing any of the handling benefits.
