I plugged my laptop in, downloaded the ecu file, sent it to my mapper, who sent it back and I uploaded to my laptop, so near enough

I think I will uprate the brakes at some point, but they're pretty good for now.

How much did this cost you?

That's pretty cool....

I wonder what the map is like though.

Well, I use a company who have been trading for many years. Re-mapping cars like this is part of my business.

Glad to hear you've got it mapped :D

It may be more, but I dont like power figures :)

Get it done ;)

Two of us with a remap today then :D

how would a custom ecu get rid of a DV?

every petrol turbo should have a DV.

every petrol turbo should have a DV.

Custom ECU to get rid of the need for the pressure balance needed.

My Cosworth's and Rover Turbo's never ran DV's and never suffered any issue's :)

the Escort RS turbo never had a DV as standard either.

Id personally leave it as lets be honest VAG designed it to have one so it must need one

I dont like DV's LOL

Nice one, you have now joined the Red Octy vRS remap club. LOL

but the DV is there to release pressure from the inlet tract and if you don't release it it get out somewhere which without a DV will be back through the turbo putting strain on the shaft and possibly also causing turbo stall therefore more lag at certain times.

not saying your wrong but what does a custom ecu do differently so that a DV isn't required?

  • Author

The VAG Ecu relies on the need for the dv and the way it works (like the APC on the Saab's).

A custom ecu wouldnt need that, and I'm quite sure it would work!

I've actually always found cars with a dumpvalve to be more laggier.

Certain turbo's do need them, others dont. The Garrett Cosworth type T34 is perfectly fine without one.
