vRS police cars

Featured Replies

Just wondering after seeing one on BBC1 traffic cop prgram last night, if anyone knows if these are modded or are standard cars.

just out of interest really. :)

i think it depends on which district they come under and who you belive as well

It may be hard to find out. I know with the Scoobys some police forces use, they refused to say one way or another, but the urban myth was that the Sccobys were seen (in mufti) travelling in and out of ProDrive..

they probably have some level of suspension changes to increase ride height for going up and down curbs i dought they will have dont anythign to the engines but at the most id say a remap.

i know some police vauxhalls used to have bigger brakes, stronger suspension, and sometimes a little extra power.

ive had a lack unmarked vrs in here and it had blue lights in the grill, so im pretty sure it was old bill. that was pretty standard looking (and i could see most of the engine as it was in bits lol!!)

thats right, you can go into most dealers and ask for police spec pads for the omega and vectras. :)

they did beef up allot of the omegas they used. ive seen quite a few white mv6 omegas pushing healthy figures even though thye have done about 3 million miles!!

ive owned a few t5s from the plod and they are standard, they just change tracking slightly and have police spec pads in (can be bought from dealers).

and a mondeo st200(if the car could talk it would have said" this git drives me harder than the dibble"lol) still standard car though.

a few special machines have been donated to the law .ie escort cossies in hull had rally upgraded suspension etc so it could take speed bumps flat out etc but i never heard anything about upgrading power but id would have thought the vrs is too slow in standard form compared to the cars they driving, a t5 would eat it for dinner if i could still justify the 18 mpg id still have one stealth tarmacmuncher

my vrs is ex police and all i got was a hole in the roof lol. cheers notts cops for that one. ive heard that they use caravan springs on them due to the wear and tear they go under

JBS posted a pic of two police octy 1.8t 4WD's estates (marked up) outside their workshop... brand new, and just fitted with nice new remaps ;)

according to a copper on here at a meet in the summer, none of theirs are chipped or modded.

hmm interesting conversation so far cheers for the replies :-)

the old Omega's were heavily modified (at least the Gwent ones were)

The Escort Cosworth in Hull was slow lol.

the Senator that used to follow it was faster!

well my force use skodas and they are not modded other then where officers catch them on speed bumps they knacker the sump so what they do is use the 4x4 as it gives more clearence

The Escort Cosworth in Hull was slow lol.

I didnt think the cossie was as good as they made it out to be. :thumbdwn:

And Ive never seen so many Protons in one area

i will be blasting around in hull in my black magic octy over christmas. il see if they can catch me then il ask lol

Well, the Hull Octy's may or may not catch you, but I imagine the Scooby cop car we have may lol.

Are you in Hull for long over Christmas?

LOL Furby - they're VERY popular with the local constabulary!

could never work out why they went round together, would have been easier to put the dog in the escort cossies boot

waste of taxpayers money should have saved the £100 fuel bill and spent it on orchard park estate lol:rofl:

would have doubled its value

LOL - Only doubled?

The Escort was meant to be quicker. I recall one evening where the Senator had to anchor on proper to avoid making an Escator Cosworth as it was too fast for the Escort to "get away" from lol

The Kent ones are definitely not modded at all. They even have a problem ripping off the front spoilers on speed bumps when chasing the slags.
