fuel flap

Featured Replies

I went to fill up my w reg 1.4mpi fabia today and found that the fuel flap does not shut properly and therefore it does not lock. Can anyone advise me on how to fix it or do i have to take it to a garage?

thanks

The cable comes off the release mechanism.

It can be reattached from inside the car - I believe it's a case of peeling back the carpet in the boot , but a search will turn up the exact answer

Try searching - its been covered before IIRC. Something to do with the cable release becoming dislodged or something like that.

I know this happened to me last winter when, IIRC the release cable froze. It's easy enough to access the mechanism by pulling back the O/S boot lining. I can't remember the exact details now, but can remember that it was all quite obvious once I'd gained access and had a look at what'd happened.

thanks for info, husband took a look in boot and it took all of 20 secs to fix. All he had to do was push the cable back in.

No probs , glad to be of service

Be warned - it'll happen again if you dont secure the mechanism cable properly - good duct tape, cable ties done in a loop fashion - all work.

Also don't pull the release lever hard - that gets it to pop out - just enough to release the flap...
