New Problem

Featured Replies

Hi, all,

I have had my Superb Elegance 2.0 for coming up to one year now. Delighted with the car in general - much better than the 7 year old Mercedes E class I had before ! However, I had to top up the screen-washer

the other day, and on opening the bonnet, found what looked like corosion. Closer examination revealed that the sound proofing/insulation on the scuttle had been chewed by Mice !! There isn't much room under the bonnet to set traps let alone keep a cat and I don't know how to keep the little blighters out of the garage.

Merry Christmas and a good motoring New Year to everyone.

Roy

You have my sympathy but I've got a bigger prob!

My superb elegance is half an inch too big for my garage and I can't close the up-and-over door. There is either a cat or a fox (more likely ) which persists on jumping onto the boot over the roof and down onto the bonnet leaving its muddy paw prints all over! I've tried putting small mesh gardening netting across the door to a height of 4 feet and have anchored the sides and base. The dreaded animal stills gets in!

The bizarre thing is that if I don't put the netting up (mainly laziness/it's raining) the animal still climbs up and down the body although there is plenty of room either side of the car.

If I catch it, do you want it sent to deal with your mice?

Actually, a mouse can be a much bigger problem. If it starts chewing at the wiring loom it can write the whole car off. Poison is probably the only cure.

Is that a threat!!!!:)

You could try one of these on ebay 260192342600 . Ive just bought one of these to get rid of a fox that is after the fish in my pond. If youve got a nearby water supply it might work.

You see alot of this in engine bays alot of sound proofing etc being chewed by mice, and the occasional dead mouse in the engine bay, could be a serious problem but ive never came across them munching wires yet.

I say that and i'll go back to work on monday and find that fault, ha!

Thanks for the useful suggestion. The extensive jets of water would probably result in next door's car (it's only a Vauxhall ) being sprayed and/or me walking across the beam some dark morning and also getting soaked. Might have to consider one of these sonic detectors. I've a large garden and the intruder could come from any direction so the device will have to be something operating across the garage opening.
