Finally back to something with a bit of Poke

OK so it's not a Skoda, but beggars can't be choosers and when the opportunity to be rid of the Yaris came along I could not refuse.

The replacement ? - Oh that would be a 2.5V6 GSi Vauxhall Vectra.

Resplendant in Silver, got to say never having driven a Vectra before - I am quite impressed - it handles very well - not as well as the vRS but then again it has got one great lump of an engine upfront. Certainly won't be attempting cambelt replacement myself - and I thought V8 Audis were difficult - peice of cake compared to this -- looks like an engine out job

Quite pleasant Dave ;)

I was considering one of those or an Astra GSi Turbo before i bought the Octy.

Its not an engine out job for the cambelt.

I have the cambelt timing tool kit for them aswell :)

Looks nice though, if you need any bits give Steve a bell at LMF www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk does alot of gen Vauxhall bits and Irmscher goodies alot cheaper than the dealers.[/

Looks nice Dave.....not standard alloys though.

No they are not - not sure what they are actually, they are also quite badly kerbed - and thinking along the lines of the costs I might drop back to 17" rims instead of the 18"'s - not that keen on them - they are meant to be black chrome ??? - they just look dirty to me

Ah well now you see.... I foolishly went an got meself engaged -- then came cost cutting which meant the octavia had to go   :thumbdwn:

Then I came to my senses gave her the heave ho - but too late for the octy had already been sold by the dealer who bought it :thumbdwn:

So have been languishing in 1.0  Yaris, starting the very steep slope back to a decent car - albeit with a tame one - the reps favourite - the Vectra - but at least its got a V6

I will return to Skoda ownership one of these days - but it will take a while, was tempted by a Fabia vRS with all the bits - but just can't afford it

If the V6 in the Vectra is anything like the one in my Omega, the fuel cost will be a bit scary! For helpful advice, take a wander over to http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/ -not too many idiots there, but not as much fun as Briskoda.......

Wouldnt it have been cheaper to go straight to the Furby ? specially as you should have got a good trade in for the Toy.

Not really - swapped the Yaris and got some cash back

would have cost probably around another 4K to get the Furby - and just can't justify at the moment.

Will have to see how I get on with the Vectra - may not keep it that long just needed something with a little more go - and the opportunity arose - was not actively looking - sometimes the best way!
