****ing Cars!!!

Featured Replies

EML light has come on my car and surprise surprise, my VAG COM lead wont work!!

I'm meant to be in Dudley now but here I am sat at home.

NOT a happy bunny.

Typical.

Any ideas? Is it drivable?

the EML can come on for very small issues and the car should be perfectly fine to drive as long as its not stuttering, cutting out, smoking or anything else silly like that. as long as it drives fine it should be fine thats why we have such complicated ecu's :)

It would be nice if it was - Still cant find out :( Dont suppose you have a copy of VAG COM do you mate? I still cant get mine working :(

When I disconnect the batter for a while, the light goes out, but if I stop the car and then turn it back on, it throws up the light again.

Why won't the lead work?

You can download another copy at ross-tech.

My laptop wont reinstall the drivers.

It worked fine when I last used it last weekend, but when I came to use it this weekend, the laptop wouldnt recognise that it was plugged in, and wouldnd reinstall the drivers.

I dont want to drive too far with it on - I have 2 trips to Newcaslte to make this week :(

Can you not to a system restore on your machine to see if that works?

I'll just reformat it and start again

if your lead is usb, re-install your usb drivers on your laptop, easy and quick to do, worth a try.

Done that mate :(

I got a copy of vag com if you want me to email it to you?

Thanks, but I have it already. the problem seems to be with the laptop recognising the lead and installing the driver. Either this is a problem with the lead or my laptop.

ah ok matey

have you tried lead out uninstall driver.Reinstall driver with lead out then plugging back in.Oh and i know mine only works in one of my usb ports for some reason.

You will need to plug it into the car to get it to work and also to set up the com port to one that isnt already in use.Have you tried this?
