Pics of mongrelling - Day 1

Well, I can tell you the metal on the inside of the clutch plates also had SACHS written in it, but I will clarify details like part numbers and so forth - I have the old clutch plate with me in the car. :D

WTF, how? they must have had the lining re worked or something, as you can see in that pic i sent you, our plates dont have the torsion dampers and stuff on them, and they are only a 4 puck plate.

How come the disks don't have the torsion dampers? I noticed that alrighjt when i bought my sachs clutch. It was a solid disk. It must explain the idle chatter i get since fitting the clutch. When i press the clutch it disappears. It's not the flywheel because it's done 60k and the noise hasn't got any worse.

Well as you know, the DMF is designed to reduce all the engine vibrations etc through the drive train, which it does very well. As for the springs on the plates, they are there for the initial take up of the clutch, and also reduce any vibrations that may not be done by the DMF. In normal clutch plates they usually have a tensioning spring inbetween the lining, this also assists in a smooth take up of the clutch. The sachs race engineering plates do not have these, and there is just a solid plate in between the lining, hense why they have a on / off type biting point.

Hope this helps?

Interesting. To be honest i haven't felt much difference in on off biting. It feels very OEM once worn in, only tell tale is the slightly heavier pedal. It's a great clutch.

I sure hope mine wears in soon. It's really really sharp at the moment and I feel I'm going to stall it quite often. Does feel like a new car though - gearbox feels totally different. :)

Jase get them part numbers up  as im intreagued as to what stuff JBS is actually selling off as there own.....

I will be getting the box out my car tonight, and get loads of detailed photos up. :) I'll give it all a wipe down as well to try and make details clearer.

Cool, yep the clutches do feel very OE like, i had the organic set up in my old ibiza and the first time i pressed it down it nearly sprung me back into the seat  after 300 miles though i was taking it to Santa Pod for GTI international 2006 and managed to get a 14.6 there :D

Think i only slipped it once and that was with a 2nd gear launch

It is slow, because I can't give it beans. :( :( :D

I will retrieve the box tonight though. :) The box with the stock clutch and DMF definitely weighed more than the SPEC clutch & flywheel it originally contained. ;)

it will do  the DMF weighs about 16kg i think.....
