the time has come when i've had my Fabia vRS for a whole 5 months now and with changes at work i have found myself in need of a bigger car, naturally the Octavia II estate is my choice of upgrade.

currently i'm looking at a Candy White vRS estate, which as much as i love the colour i noticed its not very well spec'd. infact its probably as basic as you can get! i just spotted a Race Blue diesel version which is pretty well spec'd for £800 more. tempted? yes i am very.

providing everything works out as planned and the car is affordable to me aswell as providing the room i need. i'm now left in the situation of should go for the blue or the white one.

i've driven a few petrol versions of the vRS and found them a joy to drive albeit a tad hefty on fuel, this is where the diesel will score points although performance wise i noticed it doesnt appear to be much faster than my current Fabia, not that i've driven one, i'm just comparing book figures.

the pro's of the diesel one are that it has a few extra's like the onboard computer, climate control and cruise control, the white has none of these but thats the greatest appeal to me of the car is the fact that its white.

is it worth dropping a few luxury's to go for that ultra rare colour or should i stick with sensible race blue with its better economy and fancy extras?

I think you should decide exactly what you want and then look around and be patient. No point compromising if you don't need to...

i'm going to need something sorted out asap, preferably just after the new year, i wouldn't go past my local dealer so just checking out the various cars they have.

don't go for the white one mate.

if it wasn't good enough for plod, it's not good enough for you ;)

anyway, can't you just cover the blue one with white vinyl :D

Blue ones are a tad common.....Get Yellow or white

The white one looks spot on and at least you know who put the decals on the side.

I would be getting the wheels back on that were on ages ago, I think they moved them onto the red Octy estate that they are using as a demonstrator.

Think you would get a cracking deal on the white one as well, they've had it in for what seems like donkies.

You could also see if they would spec it up a bit like cruise control, parking control better stereo and tints. Worth asking as you know the staff welll enough and the time of year.

yeah they told me they would give me a great deal if i went for the white one, i think its a great looking car but i decided in the end that a diesel would probably be a lot better choice than the petrol engine, also took the resale value into account where the blue one would be a lot better than the white one.

so if all goes to plan, this is my new car. not sure when i'm going to be taking delivery off it yet.

What plans have you got for the outside? Decals or the like!

currently i have no idea, maybe just stick with the graphics i have on the fabia at the moment, nothing ott it just makes it feel more like my car instead of people assuming its my dads or whatever.
