Best hand held polisher

Featured Replies

I want to get a hand held powered polisher in the Jan sales to save time polishing and to bring it up lovely.

Car is black vrs and looks lovely when polished up - for ten minutes.

Any ideas or sites that offer a variety of this kind of kit??

Want to spend up to fifty quid or so.

They have a handheld buffer in costco but if you want to do it properly you need to look at the new meg's G220, UDM or PC these cost about £150 ish brand new but are worth there weight in gold on black fab's..................best place to look is over on,

A world for detailers...

I have just bought a G220 but I'm not aloud to use it till crimbo!!:thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

please post a review of the megs polisher when you have used it:thumbup:

i am very interested in weather it is a good bit of kit or not(i think it will be,megs are no rookies)

The best is Chicago Pneumatic's CP8210 Polisher.

Ive used them for years and will never go back to one of the big angle grinder types.

I finally bought one yesterday for £130 with trade discount. RRP £169

Im thinking of nipping down to halfords tomorrow to buy one of their polishers(£15)

I know this wont be a patch on a decent machine

But im hoping it will take some of the tedium out of polishing

(ie)run over with the halfords polisher then finish by hand

Save your money, you'll use it once and it wont see daylight again. Save up and get a decent one, the Porter Cable is THE one to get or has been up and till the launch of the new Meguires one but it's too early to say whether it can match or better the PC.

That would be my advice to the originator of this thread, save up a little bit more and get either of the two I've mentioned above

At that price it will take a big chunk out of the money im putting aside for a new exhaust

think ill stick to elbow grease for now:D

The PC/Megs polishers are a good learning point but you'll be quicker and get better results with a rotary though . Whichever one you choose the best results come with good technique - which means plenty of practic preferably on a spare panel. I used an old mk2 Golf sunroof panel to practice on and followed some of the youtube guides that are on detailingworld. Be warned it can get obsessive :o.

I have the UDM and its excellent. The only problem is they are 110v and you need a transformer.Have a look on AUTOPIA in the states thats were i got mine.Didnt pay any import either.

Just a quick pic of the G220.....................

Don't bother, it is only good for taking wax off.

I'll be looking to buy a second hand PC for a good price when the UDM/Megs 220 is popular or get a megs machine when prices come down.
