Note holder clip

Featured Replies

I just picked up my 2nd hand 55 plate Octavia Elegance today. Apart from a nick to the body on the A-pillar which I missed before I signed on the dotted line (doh!), the car is in really good condition.

Anyway, I got into the car to drive off and noticed a clear plastic clip protrusing form the side of the windscreen on the drivers side. I thought it was some clip that the dealer had fitted to hold the price and sinc eit was in my line of vision and a distraction, I proceeded to try to remove it. Strange, I thought, it seems to be clipped into the A-pillar trim but by sing some brute force, I snapped the main clip off. Well, I'm now reading the manual and now I find that the clip is a feature of the car!!!! I feel such an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!

Only one thing can sum that up really:

They can be replaced though, people have snapped them off before on the Mk.1 Octavia. I'm not 100% sure whether the clip in the Mk2 is bonded with the windscreen or screwed into the A pillar steelwork. Either way, they can be obtained from the dealer for pennies.

Trawl the seach facility and the answer will be there somewhere.

Don't go pulling anything else off your car! :nono: :P

EDIT: if it was a distraction, ignore me and don't bloody replace it!

IIRC they are screwed in on the MK II

I found mine a needless distraction and took it off purposely !

Ha....well, it was in my line of vision so I probably won't bother getting a replacement. it's a nice idea but probably should be in alower position so it's less intrusive - I don't know, maybe it's just me!

Will spend some pennies on some touch up paint for the nick as the paint has been taken off as well - I'm annoyed that i didn't spot this one but it's only aesthetic and I'm concerned about the reliabilty of the car to be honest (just been reading the 'would you buy another one' thread - can send shivers down your back!)

I use mine all the time :)

At first it distracted me, in that I kept thinking it was a crack in the screen. However, now I'm used to it, it's brilliant- never having to stick tickets to the screen.

I did use mine but I think I must have had too many tickets in there at one point because it won't hold a single ticket anymore. :(

I must get around to sorting that out . . .

Go to practically any car forum for any make and model and you'll find similar discussions.

People visit forums and moan when their car goes wrong, they don't generally moan when their car is working properly ;)

Yes, it's like general news - you hear about all the ****-ups and bad things but it seems that when things work like they should, it isn't news!!

For my Mk I Octy I used a clear round rubber-like sticker designed to be stuck underneath stuff to stop them from moving around on tables and desks etc.

I think it was made by TESA and I bought a pack from the supermarket for pennies, and used most of them for speakers, pen holder on the desk etc.

Anyway, it was just the right diameter and shaped like a plano-convex lens, so the flat part stuck to the windscreen and the convex part touched the ticket holder or ticket.

Bonus feature: it stopped the damned thing annoying me as it vibrated at certain (high) speeds while touching the windscreen.

It stayed perfectly clear for over 3 years. I did the same to my new Octy II the day I got it.

i use mine, but it been better if it was either nearer the bottom or nearer the top.

Yeah, I've decided to snap mine just because of it. As I almost never park in paid parking, I don't need the holder and I've never liked the way it looks.
