Whiteline RARB fitted- some fitting observations

Ahh, the udders. :D

I remember those udders you showed me Sarah (ooh err) and the description is accurate. The Cupra bushes work very well and are about £9 each. It's the fitting them that's a bit of a pig and you need a wheel alignment afterwards. They're just solid rubber not poly but do the job perfectly well.

Ok cheers guys.

I've just done a search and it looks like the "Ideal" is Ibiza Cupra front (rear facing) console bushes Part Number 6LL 501 541 and Powerflex "poly" front wishbone bushes.

Does that sound about right?

Yup, I'd agree there. Got Powerflex front bushes and Cupra console bushes in mine. Awesome do this as a service. Including a 4WA I think it came to about £240 all in. Seems a lot but when it would cost about the same to fit normal voided bushes which would fail again within 12 months it makes perfect sense. ;)

 you did say that it was running better with the mix of Powerflex and the Seat bush ;)

Did take a little longer than normal to fit , but results are there

Sarah

should have saved 220 and fit them yourself, easy job, doing mine when i fit the coilovers:thumbup:

not trying to do you lot out of a job or owt sarah;)

Oooh your ok , we do the geo set up afterwards too

Tell you what if I had the time I would do alot of the work on my car too

Get a real buzz out of doing the work on your own car

Sarah

agreed its much more fun to diy,

Bashing the new bushes in with a hammer didn't appeal......at all. :D

Pressing them in without the special tool risks bending the consoles as they're aluminium too. With the 4WA being required afterwards I thought sod it and had it done. :D

must admit,i can never be bothered to do the 4wa,i hate setting it all up,a nessesary evil i suppose:thumbup:

Did feel better afterwards....less pull to the left. And now with the RARB even less. :D :D

Speaking of Awesome, cam belt change is due in the next 2 months. Another trip over to the Trafford centre. :)

Glad your liking the RARB chris, its fun int it :D

Speaking of cupra bushes, I fitted mine myself, with a vice and a big washer :D

Cut the old ones out with a hack saw and pressed the new ones in with a vice.

For the Front TCA bushes, i burnt the old ones out with the oxyactlene torch then pressed the new poly ones in with the good old vice :D

Bodged my 312's on on xmas day and they too are amazing. Clearance between the wheel and claipers is somewhat amuzing, but they fit ;)

You had it sidways yet chris??

:D loving it mate. Having to learn to drive the car all over again though. Had to back off earlier on the Towton moor road as it was a bit damp and now the car has the tendency for lots of sideways action. Much more dependant on tyre grip than before which is pretty rubbish with greasy muck all over the roads. :D

 That road through towton is ace  Near the battlefield :D Alot of skill needed for that road, its got some interesting features. Theres one corner thats on an apex of a hill and if you go fast enough you can take off sideways, not that ive tried any of that :D

last time we went down there was when it flooded and we were in the octy we got from wink wink ;)

Yup the RARB really does put more strain on the tyres, wait till the roads are dry and grippy youl love it even more, as in you can actually feel the car lift its rear wheel on real corners :D

Next on the list of mods is the brakes :D

P's Do You still want my standard setup?

Oooh yes please. :D

You're right about that road....lethal if you don't quite know what you're doing. I know exactly which bend you're on about. ;)

The need for 4 good tyres is now so apparent with a RARB. Glad I had all mine changed when I did. I have found the limit of adhesion and pushed the car into understeer and then lift off - flick the tail out oversteer. All easily controlled but the tyres struggled as the road was so greasy. :(

Was considering doing the 5L washer bottle mod next as I'm sick of filling mine up but can't be bothered to take the front bumper off. Looks like hassle to me.

Job for the summer me thinks, i will be doing mine when the weather gets warmer so why not do two at once ;).

I noticed the 2l bottles limitations last winter and never did anything about it, so this year will defo do the xenon 5l bottle swap.

Ok cheers guys.

Yup.. thats what my car runs :D

the powerflex "rear facing" bushes AKA the udders are crap. they may help a little bit on a brand new car, but one with bushes already worn just makes them pop out..

That is why they reccomend new bushes at the same time :( makes it quite an expensive job then , but the Seat ones are not THAT bad until SEat get hold of it ;)
