Very light scratch on ebony black paint...

Featured Replies

Got a VERY light scratch on my offside front wing, as if someone has dragged something passed it (hopefully accidently) Not a deep scratch at all, so I'm sure it's not deliberate.

Anyone got good experience of using a polish that suits the metallic ebony black Skoda paintwork?

Got to go to a bodyshop to get scuff marks off the rear bumper as well thanks to some idiot at my work (their expense obviously) but would rather just tend to the front wing mark myself.

for light scratches i use the meguires scratch X i find it great for getting rid of light scratches it should be ok to use on black paint

Light T-cut, then polish with Auto Glym super resin polish for me.

I have used Brasso wadding very effectively on my car. Just rub it in fairly small circles than wash the area and polish with a Auto Gym super resin.

The Brasso seems to "melt" the scratch together.

I'd avoid any form of T-cut other than as a last resort.

I use Auto Glym super resin polish so something like that should do the trick.

Wary of T Cut as well to be honest, will give the Auto Glym a chance.

Cheers!

If the scratch is deep fill the scratch in with some touch up paint using a very fine modellers paint brush, build the paint up so its higher than the existing paint. Use a hairdryer to bake the paint, and then use megs scratch x to remove excess paint. and the paint in the scratch will remain. This process is very similar to the chips away technique.

Definitely! Been using it 1961. Note that, in my experience, the straight liquid doesn't work, nor does the Silvo version of the wadding - only the Duraglit Brasso Wadding. Small circular rubs across the scratch will usually do it and I've been amazed at some of the deep 'keyed' scratches [done by some passing cowpat] that eventually come out. I just finish off with whatever car wax I'm using at the time.

I seem to recall, on this forum, that we got Lady Eleanor out of trouble with this stuff some while back.

I'd personnaly use:

P2000 on a nibbing block to flat out the scratch.

Farecla G3 on a profesional buffer.

3M Machine Glaze with a soft pad, on a buffer.

End result.... no scratch

Probably best left to the profesionals.

If you dont manage to get it out, give me a shout and I'll give it a going over since your fairly local with some suitable products & tools :D

If its the same as I would describe as a light scratch then I would use only use 3000 unigrit well soaped for a medium scratch, but a light scratch just in the clearcoat should machine right out.

For Skoda black I use Mezerna products, Intensive polish followed by Finishing touch glaze and FMJ.

Is that ok Paul :D:P

ill use the 25 stage method .

megs 83 on a yellow cutting pad.

megs 80 on a white pad

megs polymer sealant on the blue pad.

and a partridge in a pear tree.

Can only say "thanks" online, but what a hell of a job! Cheers once again, wish I'd taken a before and after photograph to be honest.

Fantastic job, every little scratch gone (including ones I did not know about to the naked eye) and no need to go anywhere near a paint spraying booth now.....

Thanks again!
