Bare in mind the front wings on a clio 172 are plastic

Ive had many a run in with the "diesels are so slow cos they dont rev highly blah blah"

Cliosport members. They thought it was so funny when I said a chipped 130pd would be quicker than a 172. A few months later I beat a Cup from a rolling start which I had to post on the forum, needless to say they a few of them all of a sudden went quiet apart from the odd "chipped versus standard isnt fair" comment.

Dam I missed all the fun cause I was busy in work. DAM! I was really looking forward to posting.

O well till the next time.

Odd how all post relating to the Fabia have now been deleated.

hehehe I remember some of your posts  Thing is a Clio Williams with 162bhp is only just faster by about 1 cars lengh than my standard 130bhp diesel so a 172 or cup ain't gonna be a problem when the furby is chipped.

In defence of french cars:

I have had numerious Renault 21 Turbos, last one was 4 wheel drive (quadra) 240bhp.

It kept up with WL until 90mph on a drag and was nippier.

Hads to go due to chassis not being able to take any more power.

:D

There is a thread started up in the driving tails section of Cliosport about one of them having a race with a Fabia vRS. All the usual comments are there about how diesels are only good because they catch you out at low revs etc. Same old story.

Ive just looked through the forum and seen afew threads regards the scooby's:D well me owning a scooby as my weekend car and seeing some of the clap they are coming out with is unbelievable. I keep wanting to come up against one of these 172 with the furby but never have had the oportunity:(

Yep maybe they will put a different record on cause the one we keep on hearing is getting old.

BTW I was only beaten by 1 car length from 70-120 by a clio williams running 162bhp the other night, it was a good friend of mine as well so we bought thought we'd give it a go.

I've put the post up about the Golf TDI vs 172. Their now saying it must be a v6 TDI. LOL

I can vouch for the fact that it's definitely a 1.9. But it's not quite standard! :D

That will be the one with 6Valves then?

Perhaps it's the 4WD :D

In old Octy 4x4 I could launch stupidly fast (sorry clutch) and let the haldex sort out the power.

By time the 172 has caught up it's a fairer fight, but torque wins :D
