Not joking at all the collinite looks sh1te after a few days. ive just looked outside and can see the water running off my car with the AG one, where as when you put on the collinite it attracts dust to it and leaves a slight fur look for the first day or two and then after a few weeks seems to look crap as the water starts to puddle on the car where as the AG it beads.

I'd quit whilst you are ahead fella.

You don't know what you are talking about.

( No offence intended btw.)

Why should i quit when im ahead, its seems on here a group of you all get together and start recommending something that in YOUR opinion is good but others it isnt. Why should i keep quiet cos you dont agree.

I have nearly used up the collinite 476 and in my opinion isnt value for money, is rubbish and requires a hell of a lot of effort for the same effect as spraying on the Autoglym Aquawax which is spray and wipe, is cheaper and lasts about the same time. You might find that the collinite is better for you but i dont and im sure others on here will disagree with you.

I use the brilliant collinite about 3 times a year on the car then then top up with AG aqua wax if apart from anything else it helps to remove the remaining water from the car and leaves the car shining with very little effort

Also collinite on the whells makes cleaning them a doddle

Actually I have never used Collinite.

I use a mixture of Autoglym and Turtle Wax products, and I am sure that anyone who has ever seen my car will agree that the results are impressive.

So ner.

Well, alright then.

It is common knowledge that a hard wax will last significantly longer than a spray wax, and Collinite is highly recommended by amateur and pro detailers alike. However, a hard wax such as Collinite must be both applied thinly and buffed properly, preferably using a machine as if not it can very easily result in a rather dull look.

Thank you.

Any wax is only as good as the preparation of the vehicle.

Even the cheapest stuff can look good and last fairly well if the car is properly prepared.

PS I don't think you are fat, and you are definately not a boy.

Yes i understand this and what im saying is from my experience (photos are on this site of the finished effect) is that for me (mr grumpy might want to read these words carefully) for me i have not had this wonderful experience that others claim to get from this collinite. Maybe its becuase i can only use the stuff outside, maybe its cos others use it indoors.

But for the time it takes to put on divide it either by cost, time whatever, i find its not as good as autoglymm. I was told when i got the collinite that it lasts up to 12 months on the car, but i would look more to 6-8 months by members of this site. I did my winter prep of the car (which features on this site somewhere) and within a month my car looks like its been washed in hot fairy liquid and is now not covered in any wax as its disappeared. I put on the autoglymm and the water seems to bead for longer and look in a much better condition, might be the colour, might be to do with the conditions around here, might be a crap can of the stuff, but so far im not really impressed with the overall standard of it compared to a spray on.

Im not looking for a flame war, im just voicing an opinion, however my opinion if it doesnt match certain members on here becomes a flame war along with their mates. If you think your wax is better come round and give me a demo with my car, if you want the rest of the tin of mine come round with some AG wax for me ill be happy for the challenge.

Thank you.

I think you will see from my write ups how much effort i put into my prep, so stop scraping the barrel i dont do things half hearted.:P

Ignore em - most are just car buff...

:sofahide:

..oons

Save for Mr Grumpy - cos he's always right (but does admit to using Turtle Wax)

oh, and Gillywibble too

and ......

As I said, I only ever use the 'cheaper' products as I am a tight Yorkshireman.

I also don'thave the benefit of a garage I can get my car into ( it's full of crap ) or a pc ( I would like one, I'll be honest ).

I have plenty of spare time, and lots of patience, so I make do with that.

I wasn't having a dig, BUT, Collinite is one of the premium waxes, and when my vast supplies of Turtle Wax goes, I will let Gilly loose on my car to prove his point :D

and all i was ever saying was from my experience and in my humble opinion.

Have you had your car long?

If you bought it used it may have had a thorough waxing before you got it, and you may be just 'topping it up'

Either way, if you are happy with it, other peoples opinions dont matter a sh!t ( especially mine )

Mine is usually spotless, but even if it were perfect, I wouldn't be happy with it. Oh for a stonechip free car:rofl:

I don't have a garage either but I do have a PC. Collinite is a pig at the best of times.

I|t was brand new and i stripped all wax and sh!te that the pdi claimed to had done and started from scratch. I use the Autoglymm range which back in May was being recommended by everyone (and i have found to be a good product) I tried the collinte as also reccommended on here. Yes it can look nice on the car, but it just doesnt seem to last long, certainly not the 6 months as mentioned on here or the 12 months as per ebay dealer for the 476. I must put in a minimuim of 1 hour when i wax the car with collinite doing panel by panel, the only thing ive found it exceeds in is removing flies from the front  once the fly splats have absorbed the wax they literally fall off. The water also IMHO doesnt seem to bead as well as with the aquawax which i can do the whole car in under 20 mins with and looks better when its been raining (better beading).

My family know how much time i can spend on the car, the new miss's is yet to find this one ;) (she thinks its wash and go and thats it ) but at same time im not obsessed to spend 8 hours every sunday washing and detailing it. 2-4 times a year for the full over system and a good wash and wax every month and a good wash every week and everyone still say what a nice clean car and oh look (after it gets a bit of dirt on it) your poor car is dirty again lol.

I find with mine that using the same brand of products keeps it looking better, i.e. atm I am on Turtle Wax nanotech stuff, and it suits me well, as i have loads of it and it is a case of layering same on same.

it is supposed to be dry tomorrow, so mine will get a waxing, and that will do until spring, when it will get the full claybar treatment for summer.

It helps having a car from new, as you know every inch of it, and somehow it is easier to keep clean. it takes me a lot longer to clean mine than it does the Mad Wifes SE.

I don't have a garage either but I do have a PC. Collinite is a pig at the best of times.

It can be when its very cold however Ive had nothing but ease prior to this. How much are you putting on and how are you taking it off?

I use Collinite 915. Having tried turtle wax, autoglym, meguiars, poorboys and probably a selection of cheaper products, I find the Collinite to be streets ahead of the rest. I liked the meguiars until I tried poorboys which gave a much deeper shine, but I was dissapointed with the poorboy's short life span. The collinite gives the best shine of any I have tried and seems to last well. I tend to wax once or twice a month anyway so I can't say for certain how well it lasts. I have been very impressed over the last few weeks, with the poor weather and dirty roads I end up with a black car after about two miles but the dirt just washes away with a low pressure garden hose!

I'm off to give mine another wax :D

I used to swear by Swissol Wax (now Swissvax) when I had the Fabia

I now use Collinte on my Honda.

Its fantastic stuff.

If youre experiencing problems with it...?

You must have a rogue batch or something??

Perhaps you need to better prepare the surface prior to application.

In my opinion, its brilliant!!

HONEST!!!;)

Did my fathers car in November and it still looks great now. Water still beading and it was a doddle to put on with a foam applicator and came off.

Either you are not applying it correctly or something else is wrong. Colli is apparantly good for 6 months and the fathers car looks like the day I just applied it and is beading really well.

EDIT:

Just to say this was colli applied with a foam applicator, buffed off by hand with a microfibre cloth after Megs DC1/DC2 bought on offer from halfrauds. The colli was in a winter deal pack with the applicators and 3 MF cloths so the whole lot worked out about £25.

When I did the car it was cold, damp and I was interrupted from time to time by rain and so would have to dry the car before continuing.

I can't say I understand why people say colli is a pig as I find it much easier than stuff like SRP, Mer or turtlewax ever was even in winter.

If you want something cheap and really easy that should last for ages, just polish the car and then put a couple of coats of turtlewax gloss guard over the freshly polished paint. That used to last me for ages :)

but i expect your fathers car has been sat still all that time too!!
