exhaust noise

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just back from getting custom exaust fitted.... Its very loud tho

Do you think they will be able to quieten it ???

Hope they can as parents not amused !

Cheers

Andy

It should get a little quiter after a couple hundred miles as some carbon builds up inside it but not much.

If it's a custom made exhaust like Powerflow then yes they should be able to do something about it.

hi there

yes its a fully custom system so fingers crossed for saterday LOL Ill give it a blast tommorrow night to see if that makes any diff LOL

Can they make a bung for the end? That way you can have the zaust nice and quiet for home and loud for fun :D

My neighbours looked quite relieved when a decatted Scooby left and a nice civil Tavia arived on the drive ;)

My Mum hated my old Fabia cos of my exhaust! I hate to tell you this, but mine actually got louder with more miles! :D I loved that noise.

Keep the exhaust & get new parents..

Job Done :D

Should be able to quieten it by chaging to a bigger back box.

My Jetex was pretty quiet when new but actually got louder with miles. With Milltek dp/cat sounds alot more meatier and a tad louder...especially during a long run.

I think exhausts get louder/deeper as time goes on. Mine certainly did anyway and i'm on my 3d aftermarket one :D

Mine got louder when I took the muffler out.

Well what do you know !! lol !

I wouldn't mind something a little more "tasty" sounding, but it worries me that I'll end up with something that makes long journeys tiresome.

A compromise, I know, but I'd hate to wreck the cars practicality (I need to use it for work).

A Milltek DP and cat looks like the best bet, but, as usual, I can't make up my mind!

who's was the black octy vRS at Brunters with the Audi RS badge on the back ? the exhaust on that sounds awesome, lovely deep throaty sound but not overly loud... i was talking to the owner but didnt catch his name...

All the exhausts i've ever had on my cars have got louder with use, the baffles settle in and wear down alittle and this reduces the restrictions thus making them alittle louder, if you want it quieter they can put a larger silencer along the system (middle box) or use a larger back box (as already mentioned)...

His name is Andre (Funkyjutel) and it used to be Des's (delcac) RS.

ahhhh i see... thanks Q.

i had a feeling it was someone like that, he was telling me about all this gear (ICE) he'd got that needed to go in etc.

Anyone know what exhaust system thats running ??

IIRC it is a Milltek full decat

IIRC it is a Milltek full decat

If a decat is illegal, as I've been assured it is, has anyone on here had their collar felt for having one (or not, as the case mey be)?

Just wondered.

I think you'd need to be pulled by one of the roadside emission testers to get done. Your insurance could also be affected as the car is "unroadworthy". This is what Greenlight told me when I had my decatted Impreza.

have to admit that the idea of being presented with a GV9 cert doesn't appeal. Think I'll stick to a cat system.

cat back would be nice, wonder what the miltek (if this is the system) would sound like ??

Anyone coming to the Funky Sunday mega meet with such a system ??
