Featured Replies

hello this is my first post but i have used the forum before for help. i have water in my rear passenger footwell,it is raining quite hard and the floor has near standing water,i was on the forum yesterday and done the gromet in the bulkhead beside pollen filter and dried the carpet but today its soaken wet. when i feel rond the side of the footwell to see if its running in down the sides they are dry so the water must be coming somewhere else PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!

I would have gone for the pollen filter grommet as my first port of call, but if you have done that maybe that is ruled out. I silicon sealant'd mine up.

Might be the weather seals in the doors, but the floor shape & slope allows water from the front to the back, so might be worth checking the front door too. If you open the door, is there water on the rubber seal?

Remember there is sound deadening material under the carpet which can soak up quite a lot of water and leave you with a wet feeling carpet for some length of time.

Might be worth checking the leaf drainage holes down to the wheel arches on both sides of the windscreen are clear.

Does you car have a sunroof? Maybe one of the drains from that is bloked.

Cheers and good luck with finding the water ingress point.

yes the car does have a sunroof were are the drains situated

I can't remember where they drain off hand..... rear ones drain out through the boot, the fronts, iirc come out at the front hinge end of the front doors... have a look for a black rubbery bit!

I opened my sunroof and gently poured some water in, and watched / waited till it drained onto the driveway. Obviously if the water does not appear then you have a potential problem!

already checked the connection in the boot is there any more you know of ,maybe in the car itself many thanks

connection in the boot is screen wash solution for the rear window....

Figure 2 in the link I posted above shows the connection in the C pillar.

Also possible source of water in the car is the a/c drain pipe, but thats unlikely in this case...

If its virtually standing water, then surely its related to rainfall? Definitely trace the sunroof drains, indeed the drainholes in the sunroof itself maybe just blocked with a leaf or something.

this is to vrstu i don't suppose you have any better pictures of the c pillar were the conextion is please

Afraid not but it looks like it might be at the lower end sort of above the wheel arch. I have a feeling there may be one in the area of the sill in the rear door - Passenger side.

hi again fellow vrs owners i seem to have developed another leek in the back of the car,its dripping down onto the rear passenger headrest and running down the trim and finally dripping onto the cd player can anyone help me with this one ta

That might indicate that you are getting water in the headlining from the sunroof.
