Maxidot installed

When you go into vagcom into instruments you should see the coding on the left. The best thing to do is go into another vrs the same as yours and take note of the coding and then change yours to the same code.

Good idea my friend, now just to find another vrs :D

I dunno weather or not the coding will be different though as ive gone from normal to maxidot display

Its worth a try though.

Just to put a slight twist on things my fuel gauge works the opposite now, when its full it shows empty and when its empty it shows full :(

Any ideas :(

The coding should be the same regardless of maxidot or not. Regarding the fuel gauge the software must have differences in the cluster something that probably can be rectified by changing bytes via vagtacho. What model of car did the maxidot come off?

The maxidot was brand new, and intended for a rhd fabia vrs.

I think i know what ive got to do now, i have to empty the tank completley then add 6l of fuel. then using vagcom adapt channel 30 of the 17 instruments back to factory settings, hopefully this should cure things.

Will be getting the soft coding off another vrs tomorrow so hopefully will be abel to see why mine is wrong.

cheers john

That's what I was about to say with the fuel - there is a calibration procedure in the stuff you should have.

I should have read that stuff cover to cover  Having done so now i see the error in my ways ;)

Its goes on about loggin in proceedure? would this be the same in vagcom? and do i use my SKC code for the new dash pod 01*0* to log in?

Cheers john

I don't have the info in front of me but yes AFAIK if you are logging into the immo/dash it's the SKC.

top job john, can't wait to see this for myself:thumbup:might be tempted myself when i get some cash,i'm proper broke at the mo:(

Gary read the signature rules please mate. It's nice but just a tad oversize

Well after spending most of the evening draining the fuel tank to 6l then coding the fuel gauge in, i am abit peeved off as its still showing full. whihc means it will show empty when i fill it up. :(

Maxidot + fabia doesnt work :thumbdwn:

You were doing so well. I'm sure it can be overcome it's just a case of finding out how.

if a mini dash and instuments can be fitted in a mk 1 golf, and everything works, and audi tt dashes fit into various things, hen stick with it,this has the added bonus of being made for the car your trying to fit it too, keep going,i'm sure you will get it sorted:thumbup:

Well after speaking with a freind it seems the ones with sat-nav have a different fuel level sender than a car without sat nav.

Am i correct in thinking the sat-nav cars also had maxidot?

Cheers john

Yes they did.

It seems that the only differance in fuel sender is either cooled or not cooled and petrol. No mention of maxidot.

Thanks Stu,

Hes talking B*ll*cks then :(

I didnt think there would be a different one for the maxidot display versions and i was really looking towards there not being after seeing the price .

Ill just have to keep experimenting with vag com.

Still not sorted the Speedo reading either, but apart from that all works splendid.

I know everything is spot on fuel economy wise as i am still getting the same displayed MPG readout. And doing an output test in vagcom shows that all the dials are working correctly and how they should, its just the inputs/coding which are wrong.

Cheers

John

I am hoping to find funding to get mine sorted soon, struggling to find time and get the cars through MOT etc as away all the time abroad :(

Will have to come visit :)

@skudmissile

I've just bought WW_VRS's unused Maxidot and I was wondering if you ever got the Speedo problem and Fuel Tank level issue resolved?

Also - do you have the URL for that German site you mentioned earlier in the thread?
