I got a genuine honda one for about £15.

I trimmed the bottom slighty to make it fit but I don't think I had to really

imo that one looks a bit naff

lol

£12 then, mmm is it worth it!

Wouldn't have to tell the insurers surely? :)

Nah it's an aerial can't see that being a problem if you roll your car

altough the standard item is longer so may provide more protection for your roof

Will it go faster though? :P

Less resistance .......Maybe !!!!

Ive got the very same one - genuine honda s2000 / civic / anything. - bit fatter than standard where it meets the roof mount - but looks much better i think. :D

Mine's a 3 quid cheapo one. Fitted fine with no modification.

And it adds 5bhp, definitely.

Rob can you find the same one you bought on ebay? :)

How do they fit on the Octavia?

Mine is a drop down one but cannot remove it.

Thanks Rob.

What's a "drop down one?!"

I thought on the vRS you had to unscrew it and then give it a firm tug out? ..then just screw the new aerial in?

I had to unscrew it then kinda push in a bit then it just popped out. It took days of trying to get it out, then it just happened.

HTH

I had to grip mine with pliers and give it a sharp tug!

For what it's worth, the S2000 aerial doesn't fit if you have the GPS antenna base as the thread size is different.

Yeah what i meant by drop down was that when i unscrew the aerial it just drops down on back window so don,t know how to get it out of base to replace.

Take the rubber cap off the end, then grip the end of the wire with pliers and give a sharp tug. It does come off.

The annoying thing about this sort of thing on ebay is that it's probably nicked; the only time any of my cars got messed with at my girlfriend's parents' in Kirkby was to have the aerial nicked off my Civic Type-R - it'll either have gone straight onto a Saxo or eBay. And that includes leaving a convertible M3 in the car park over the road for 24 hours.

The one I bought was brand new and in its original packaging, so they're not all dodgy.

We have genuine Honda one's on both our cars as they work a lot better than the OEM VAG ones do. I had one on my Polo GTi before the Fabia and obviously we had this aerial when we had the CTR.

We do regular trips to the east coast and with the OEM aerial on we would loose the Sheffield area station (Hallam FM) by about Lincoln and then switch to Lincs FM.... With the Honda aerial on the car we keep listening to Hallam FM till about halfway between Lincoln and the coast..... And i can pick up Lincs FM in Sheffield!!!! We also pick up Hallam FM well south of Nottingham when travelling around for the ice hockey.

We had a problem with the radio in our 2nd vRS the other month and the first thing the dealership said was "it's because your using the incorrect aerial"..... Unitll we compared what stations i was picking up compared to a car with the OEM aerial fitted. :D At which point they found the problem with the radio. :D

Cheers

Dave.
