Arrived today, took a bit of force to get the old one out....

Had to cut some of the bottom trim off the s2000 aerial to get it to screw in (might have to tidy it up tomorrow as it looks a bit rough).

Looks good!

Cupra front splitter hasn't turned up yet, i'm hoping for tomorrow!

I hope no-one nicked this aerial :( :D

I trimmed mine but we didn't need to as a good push down would have got the thread to catch :o

Didn't have to trim either of ours..... Unless the base is slightly different on a fabia but thought it was the same as an octy.

Cheers

Dave.

For what it's worth, the S2000 aerial doesn't fit if you have the GPS antenna base as the thread size is different.

how do you know if i have this on my car? 2002 octy vrs

Do you have MFD Sat nav ????

If you do then you will have a GPS antenna, if you don't you won't :)

I picked up an S2000 antenna as well... but I'm not a happy camper :(

Tried on the antenna as is: didn't work...

I trimmed the bottom almost as far as it goes and with some effort the antenna fits (with good reception) BUT when I push it back slightly it releases immediatly so it seems that I catch the thread just a little bit (not enough).

I have the type of antenna that you can drop down (eg for carwash).

Anybody any ideas?

Cheers

B

Push harder on it !!!

HTH

:D:thumbup:

push harder won't help I think... the antenna catches the thread but it doesn't screw in deep enough apparently...

anyway, last night, I've trimmed the antenna as fas as it goes... nothing to trim anymore now, I'll try again this afternoon... fingers crossed

cheers

Is it an ACTUAL Honda S2000 aerial that you have bought though???

I only ask because you can get the "S2000 style" aerials on ebay but for different cars that have different thread sizes. These are usually copies and not actual Honda parts. We have fitted 2 genuine Honda aerials onto both our Fabias, which i believe have the same aerial base & thread as the Octavia, and both fitted straight on without any cutting away of the aerial rubber etc.....

Cheers

Dave.

yep, ordered it @ a official honda dealer and the part nr was mentionned on the package...

I tried again but still the same problem: the antenna catches the thread but when I push the antenna a bit backwards it comes loose

The thread now is only 2mm shorter then the original one so I think the system to lay down the antenna is the problem.

There is a kind of extension on the original antenna which I think holds the antenna in an upwards position... here's a pic:

2 options I can try

- superglue the system to lay down the antenna so it doesn't move anymore

- drill a hole in the bottom of the antenna and foresee a similar extension as the original antenna (won't be easy though)

Anybody any other ideas? Is there an easy way to remove the antenna-bottom from the roof?

Cheers

B

PS Dave: can you also lay down yor antenna or is it a fix one?

No need to glue

I should fit if it's genuine honda keep trying !!

yeah it fits... but if I hit a fly with it on the motorway it's gone...

I already pushed very hard and tried very long :D

cheers
