strut-brace's opinions?

Featured Replies

Ive just been looking on ebay and a few other places and ive noticed there is a rear Strut brace for the Ibiza ehich also fits the Fabia Vrs. Just wandered if anyone else has seen one or even have one on there vrs?

Just wandering if they make a difference to handling as i had one on my rover 25 made a slight improvent (But that was a Rover anything was an improvement :P)? and whats your opinions on front strutbraces?

just asking this as im tinkering with the idea of getting a suspension overhaul i.e fsd's, eibach springs, RARB & front strut-brace..

thx,

Mark

There have been a few people that have fitted them but the vast majority of people wouldn't bother as I doubt you would notice any difference on the Fabia.

Even front strut braces will only prove their worth if you are "making progress" or on a track day when they tend to tighten up the steering giving you more feedback.

They are more aesthetic than practical.

They do look nice though. Very satisfying when you open the bonnet. A pain if you want to change/clean the air filter though.

Is it possible for a strut brace to have, let alone express an opinion?

What he said - absolute PITA if you need access to air-box or anything in that general location.

For aesthetic reasons, I will paint mine minz green (hammerite smooth green) in spring.

Is it possible to get the filter out without removing the brace?

I fitted the SEAT Ibiza front Strut brace to my VRS about a month ago (at the time the car was onlys running Eibach springs and no other suspension mods).

It DID make a difference to the feel through the steering but only when near the limit of grip at high speed. The car simply feels slighty tighter and more secure at the front. Any other type of driving it feels no different what so ever.

I can get my green filter out without any problems. Getting it back in is a much bigger hassle though. And I severely doubt you'd get an OEM paper one out at all without undoing the brace!

I have a pipercross in, I need to give it go soon as its been in about 4.5k.
