New front brakes

Featured Replies

Hey guys advice please.

My front brakes have probably got a few more months before they'll need replacing... so i came across some Mintex brakes on ebay.

I believe thay they're pretty good.

Its the full set including discs and pads for £50.

Are these the dog you know whats or is there something a bit better bearing in mind that money IS an object for me! hehe

Cheers

Phil

The Mintex Extremes I have on my car are extremely good (excuse the pun), so £50 for a set of discs and pads sounds like a deal to me - although I'm guessing they'll be Mintex 'Slightly-Reserved-and-Unforthcoming' at that price? Should still be pretty decent, though!

I fitted a set about 1500 miles ago - no idea if they are better than the standard, but they were a big improvement on the pattern parts they replaced. I recommend them!

Don't think that they're the extreme ones.. they dont say they are so assume they just the standard one.

Felicia Mintex Brakes

i tryed to get the mintex extreme ones, but was told they dont do them for the felicis

so i use EBC green stuffs. there good on grooved discs.

Fitted Mintex discs and pads today, I bought off Ebay for £50. It has improved my brakes 100%. I have owned this felicia deisel for about a year and the brakes have always been poor, but hey oh now I can stop with confidence :)

i've always used mintex bake pads on all my cars and i've never had a problem with them, i think £50 may be a little expensive for those and i'm sure if you shop around or visit you local motor factors you would get those cheaper (and not have to pay for devilery)

I had Brembo replacements on my Fabia and I warped them , replaced them again with the same and warped them too :( not impressed myself

So I am going down the route of ZeroSixty next time

We have sold a set of them to a Felicia owner on here

Sexy discs I call them

Dimpled and grooved , so look good too

Dimpled and grooved means that they should stay cooler too

I had Brembo discs on an octy I and they were fine. They were with pagid pads.

The OEM ones are IIRC made by brembo anyway from what a dealer was saying to me.

IMHO all grooves do on the road is marginally reduce the risk of glazing (unlikely on the road) and wear your pads out quicker. Cross drilled increase the chance of cracking appearing in the discs.

If a car like the R32, the ST, the RS and huge "sport" 4x4's can cope without grooves and cross drills I'd be fairly confident a felly etc would be fine.

IMHo it's all down to the choice of pads.

Tom, I think he meant £50 for the discs/pads together, which is not too bad.

Lol, depends where you're asking.

I did notice I got set up a very good price for a set of discs and pads from the local place, which i assume had something to do with you ;)
