Auto Express sez vRS Faby later this year!

Featured Replies

you got a lot of Sports to shift??

Marketing ploy... I was in Alex Lawrie the other day and I heard the letters "vRS" in a conversation between a sales rep and a customer... something about releasing the Sport and the Estate versions first or something before they'd even consider it!

I for one am refusing to be lured into the prospect of buying a sport and performing some tweaks to make it faster and handle better... IMHO they are just too highly priced for what you get :P

Hopefully somebody will eventually buy one and tell us all to steer clear :D

strange that the new vRS is "due out in 7 months" when nobody's seen one, or knows anything solid about it.

how far ahead did people know of the Fabia II, the roomster, or the new Superb ?

I have a weekly subscription of Autocar & express (most stories copied in both to be frank so may cancel one) anyway the new vRS has been in the new cars list for well over a year and its been there every month although I think it did start with spring/summer and now its summer 08/late08.

As for the other cars you mention they would have been listed but as they were of no interest to me I cannot comment on how long before they actually came out to when they were first published in the mag.

Also IIRC the vRS SE article in Autocar/express specifically mentiones the new one coming out in xx months so a final hurrah for the great little warm hatch.

But seriously though who in their right mind would modify a Fabia sport to be the same as the new vRS which is due out in 7 months when the modifications will totally nullify your warranty and vastly decrease its residual value?

Not good advice IMHO - you got a lot of Sports to shift??

but there isnt going to be a new vrs out this year, let alone in 7 months!!

and how will adding esp and the eibach springs invalidate the warranty? ive got a octy sport out front with eibach springs on it, fitted right here for our sales manager. its still got full warranty!

alright if you get nit picky the tuning box couldn invalidate a warranty, but as they plug in and can be removed in 5 mins, how would anyone actually know???

only got 1 sports in at the mo and i cant sell that for 3 months lol!

if i were after a new vrs i would certainly do it, but each to their own. the modifiing world would be boring if we all did the same thing

and if I remember correctly, the Auto Express article on the Furby vRS SE was so full of inaccuracies about the car (suggesting that they didn't even see/drive one) then I wouldn't be surprised if they had just made something up about the next one.

Or get a Panda 100HP and have some cash left over......... I am trying to talk the Mrs into binning her Polo and buying a 100HP ...... wimmin

30 short of the vrs though

And 150kg less too :D

And 150kg less too :D

Chris

all good for traction ;)

oh yes, just found something in the skoda warranty explanation that says if a modification is made to the car, it doesnt immediatley loose its warranty. If there is no techincal link to the fault and the modifcation then the warranty remains in force :)

so you can chip it, just dont go back with a fault that is technically linked to the fault ;)

further investigation of that German thread I posted reveals it to be a dealer-special, tuned to 140PS, and with various extras:

special front bumper with "spoiler edges" and silver painted air intakes

17" wheels

40mm lowered springs (H&R)

Alumin. pedals

stainless steel kickplates

"Dynamic" sport seats

leather on gear gaiter and handbrake

3-spoke wheel with stereo controls

"special" Black Magic paint, (including the side strips)

+ other sporty details (i guess like the RS badging)

all for 22, 222 Euro (which comes out to just under £ 17k)

this is what worries me about the potential price of the new vRS... can't you get a focus ST for less than £17k (and use the leftover to buy more fuel! lol... )

rememeber my GP sporting only cost £11k...... makes the new fabia seem SO expensive.......

there is NO way on earth skoda will charge £17 k for a furby vrs,if you shop about you can get an octy for that easily, might be about £13-£14 k maybe, with this german special, you need to take into consideration cost of living ect in germany, which is far from cheap.

yeah, but how much would it cost to "pimp" up a Fabia 3 1.9 with those extras ?

true, but the selling price will be nowhere near that,it's suicide:eek:

And 150kg less too :D

Chris

And most of that 150kg less is were it matters, up at the front :)

I've got one coming on 24hr test a week on saturday in my attempt to coax the mrs over

god if they think they can sell a furby vrs for 17k im getting my coat and leaving now!!!

Well with the £:E at an all time low expect car prices to go up accordingly.

It would be LOL funny if Skoda thought they could sell the Warm Hatch for more than a Mini Cooper S

Guys try to keep in mind that this German dealer, may be willing to sell this floor model. But it's mostly there for prospective buyers to drool:drool: over. While they're buying their Furby 1.2's & so on, possibly sell them 1 or 2 of the upgrades... Not the whole laundry list of kit they've added. Besides it lets prospective buyers understand that they're a tuner friendly dealer:nx: & that it's where they should be doing their business, cuz -"they just get them"!:mw:

I wish we had some tuner friendly dealers... I would gladly get my car serviced elsewhere and even consider playing with it if I knew that Alex Lawrie would tear up my warranty into little tiny pieces :(

Somebody e-mail SUK with a feedback of "I wanted a new vRS but as there isn't a new one out I'm looking at other Marques" subject and see if you get anything back
