Competition - guess MOT outcome!

Featured Replies

Gah, mine failed today too.

Headlight alignment

Indicator bulbs showing white paint

CV boot.

I could have guessed all three of them!

DOOMED! And NO winners!

Fail - worn lower left front suspension ball joint :P

Otherwise everything was ship-shape and Bristol fashion. Excellent emission data and perfectly balanced brakes, no corrosion.

The joint is just £15 and since my garage will NOT charge me £185 for the job not even cheezemonkhai will get the prize.

But thanks for your concern - even if some of the entries came close to insults :D Do you really think I'm going around with frayed safety belts and split wiper blades

To prevent forthcoming problems with nut behind wheel (thanks for the warning, Babs) I'll order this:

Pilot Wrench - $18.99 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items!

I thought it might fail on that, but it was to late to enter.

Hope it passes on re-test, good luck

Not too bad then, it's a bit of work to grind the rivets off those lower arms.:)

I was nearly right, it do worse than my 25 year old Ford.

Not too bad either - the two first are pieces of cake. CV boot a piece of bad luck, they don't come as cheap as a suspension joint.

double

No probs - if re-test within a month they only check the offending item. Booked an appointment with my mechanic on Tuesday.

I gladly pay my garage for fighting the rivets :D And I didn't expect to outdo a Cortina  - Actually, I like them, especially the Mk 1 - in my home town there's still two of them about.

:smrbow:

Mine went straight through its MOT today.

Pleased to say mine passed its retest today, 12 months of motoring (hopefully!).

Same here!

1st test: £23.50

new joint + 1 hr work + VAT: £68

re-test TODAY: £15.50

All in all £107 - could be worse.

Now it's just waiting for whatever will happen (SWMBO's Octy due for MOT in a fortnight)
