New Head Unit - WOOO!!

Featured Replies

I was fed up with the standard Head Unit in the VRS so just managed to get this

JVC Mobile In-Car Entertainment, Extreme ICE, Car Audio Stereo Systems, In-Car DVD, Car Hi Fi Amps & Speakers

for the bargain price of £90 squids! Delivered!

KERR CHING!

So question is (I have searched this 1st)

Am I going to need the facia adapter for around the head unit as the Fabia one is slightly larger than an aftermarket one?

I think it should be ok from my measurements

Also - Does anyone around the Hull area have some flat Audio Keys I can borrow for an afternoon to whip the unit out?

Spanks in advance

Steve

You'll need the adaptor that is used when fitting an MFD Navigation into a Fabia. £2 odd from a dealer.

Remember you'll need to swap a couple of wires over - but I'm sure you already found that in the search.

Or hacksaw blades cut in half work fine.

Also the wirse swap will probably be on the JVC to ISO loom as the red and yellow wires will probably have bullet connectors in them :)

Get the adaptor from the dealers, NOT Halfords! I paid 30 for mine :eek::eek:

Ouch 30 Euro!!!

I knew about the red/ yellow swap - I had to do that with my Corsa and Proton!!

Will see what I can do to get the stereo out with something thin!

Will also pop to the dealers with the code of the facia surround (not letting them rip me off - i'll say I know its £2.40 or whatever it is!!

Cheers

Where did you buy it from?

Where did you buy it from?

From a friend - Hence the cheapness - but its still got everthing there and is like new!

Steve

biggest bang for the buck - I felt was changing the OEM HU for an after market one.

Diminishing returns with speakers - tho a small subwoofer causes the rearview mirror to vibrate nicely....

nice one mate- good luck with the install!!

this facia surround you chaps talk about is that make a non standard radio fit the dash correctly. Anyone got a picture of it as i plan to change my head unit soon

You'll find the part number on my fabia site.

It's pretty much a small straight bit of plastic.

You can get the fascia surround for the after market head unit or a complete kit (including keys to remove the Skoda head unit and cables) on ebay. Try Skoda Fabia stereo fascia plate & Wiring adaptor & Keys on eBay, also, Fascia Plates, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-Jan-08 22:09:15 GMT)

I've no experience of this firm so it is not a recommendation, but I've been looking at fitting an after market head unit myself and this is the only kit I've seen.

There is no need to buy any of that.

All of the info is here if you search. The small £2 bit is by far the best fit.

I'm having similar problems getting my damn standard head unit out!! So I've given up incase I damage somet, I'm gonna take it 2 halfords.

I've got the wiring from when my head unit was in my 306, will I need a fresh set of adapting cables, or will the same be of any use?

You can turn that off and have a little beep instead you know!?

Its in the menu - takes some scrolling to though!

Fitted mine and set it all up - managed to get the green colour to match the OE Fabia dash lights rather nicely even if I say so myself

Oh and did you know that you can remove the Symphony Stereo with a credit card, a pair of scisors and an old key (or anything with a bit of a hook on it!?)

Pics will follow when its lighter (as its dark here already) :(

Steve

I was up for buying a £14.99 kit from ebay containing fasica adapter, wiring adapter, removal tools and aerial adapter.

After reading VRStu's advice all i needed was the Skoda fascia adapter £2.39. The dealer removed the symphony unit for me.

Cheers VRStu!
