vRS TDi race-tuned.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Had my car "chipped" by race tune / Phil Whitaker Cars near Slough yesterday. The improvement in torque throughout the rev range is excellent.

Only slight issue is that you need to be a little more cautious when driving in the yet! It will spin the wheels without any effort and use traction control in 3rd gear.

The power delivery from 1800 - 4500 is excellent - would recommend this upgrade to all careful drivers. I'm sure this is similar to superchips and the other options that are out there.

I do not have the graph figures since the rolling road results mean very little to me!

Really makes a big difference to the car; MPG appear to be unaffected unless you use the power!!

Some BHP/Torque figures would be interesting though if only to compare to other tuned vRS TDI's on here.

I would assume 190-200BHP and 380+NM of torque if the remap is half good.

I was quoted 195 - 205bhp; 410 Torque.

I have no idea if real; feels quick!

From their website - :: Race-Tune.com - Performance tuning solutions ::

Power BHP Standard 170

Power BHP Modified 204

Torque Nm Standard 350

Torque Nm Modified 410

The final bill after a little negotiation came to £400.

Hi all,

I'd be very interested in knowing experiences in vrs tdi 170 chipping, too!

Kind regards,

Ste

Hi,

I asked Will. He was very kind to answer me but he would need the ECU and we are at some thousands miles away (I live in Italy)...

So, unless p-torque hasn't an universal chip I have to look for other options such as "general" chips with standard map or an italian tuner.

just wondered if you have to notify your insurance company if you have your vehicle 'chipped'/re-mapped etc? also why dont Skoda just make the car(s) available to buy to their full power potential anyway?

Come and find out what it's doing at our Rolling Road weekend on 2nd February (link in signature below), would be really interested to see what it's doing :)

spoke to race tune in Slough today - inquired about a remap on a Superb 1.9TDi PD130 - if you make a booking this month i.e. book it in before end of August they'll remap for £245 inc VAT. Presume that applies to other models

They would expect 170bhp and 380 lb/ft

Original map is kept on their servers and also remotely, so in the event you don't like it it can be reverted back to as was. Invisible to dealers apparently

Good deal me thinks:thumbup:

Yes, I would definitely notify your insurer, wrap it around a tree and they discover it has been modified and they wont pay out
