Why thankyou. ;)

Shows what a complete numpty with a Halfords can of Ford Stardust Silver paint and some sandpaper can do.

You can't beat having them properly sandblasted and powder coated though.

Far better results every time.

Had some M3 wheels properly refurbed and they looked brill. Expensive do though.

I like em.. I love em... I want them!!

are you going to Trax (september) or IOW (16 Feb) invaision?

I know your not a numpty mate, I am just wondering what the arladite is for in the first pic

They are nice wheels, very similar to the ones on our andys z3.

No you cant beat a professional finish, the guys who did mine are spot on.

LSN COATINGS OF CASTLEFORD, cheers guys

These were acid dipped back to bare alloy, then they were glass bead blasted, which gives a smoother finish to normal sand blasting.

They were coated and left in the kiln for a full day. They are apperently still softbut from my prodding the inside the finish is as tough as anything.

I think the SE should have come with white wheels, just like the octy 100 SE's.

It was just in case there were any deeper gouges that needed filling during the prep process. In the end I didn't use any but I wish I had now. The prep is the most important part and I got impatient wanting to start blasting the spray paint as soon as possible.

When my other wheels went in for refurb, I was told they tack weld bits in to fix gouges etc then smooth them out before spraying. But to be honest I think if you're missing that much material in places it may be worth just getting a new wheel instead.

Ar yes, now i see

Dont mentions welding, i am addicted to arc welding lately, i went through a full pack of 10 electrodes the other day just welding random bits together

Might go have a blast now and weld some stuff

All you need are brake pads that generate white dust.

I wonder if they do make these  would be handy if they did :D

And if you ever scratch them, you could just pop into WHSmith and buy some TipEx to touch them up. :D

Just kidding. :)

While they're off the car I would be putting on as many coats of alloy wheel sealant to help prevent the dreaded brake dust.

Looks the mut's nuts by the way!

Thanks :D

Funny you should say that, i have a tin of collinite and a buffing cloth in my hand at this moment in time.

Hopefully if i get a good coating they should resist the dust and just rinse clean. Then in the summer i can give them another coat

LMFAO :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

You'll be surprised how good a touch-up tippex actually is. I know someone who used it on some white wheels to patch up the tiny stone chips and it fills the holes surprisingly well. Obviously if you get up close, it's obvious to see, but more often than not, wheels only need to look nice from 6 foot or more. :)

The trick with the collinite is layering and thin layers at that. Leave an hour or so between coats to let each one cure.

Worth doing as good a job as possible now to save either taking the wheels off in the summer or missing bits.

Is it 915 or 476 you're using?

Its the 476S. just done first coat on all 4 wheels will leave it a few hours then do another coat.

might top it off with some nattys blue paste wax to bring back the shine, but undecided yet

Yep, layer that Collinite, and be patient between coats - should be ultra durable.

The finish on the wheels is stunning!!! Are they a specialist powder coaters, or do they refurb wheels too?? I guess yours were mint when they went in... ;) £120 is a bargain though - look forward to seeing them on the car!

Should make cleaning an absolute doddle. Just wash normally and the dirt will fall off. Should last a few months then just a quick top up with the wax and you're away again.

Polishing white can be a pain and you think you're starting to go blind or blurry vision.

Good luck!

And for all those who ever wondered a standard vrs wheel weighs dead on 9kg

Hopefully

The finish is spot on the cammera only tells half the story, they look so much better in real life ;)

The wheels were not perfect went they went in. They were kurbed and the laquar was pealing off most of the wheels. But i suppose the acid dip gets rid of all that.

As far as i am aware they are a specialist powder coaters who do alot of wheels.

They can do standard silver finishes too. They are going to do my other wheels in a really glossy metal flake antracite once i ve got the tyres off.

If anyone has anything they would like coating and require a quote, just send us a pm

:wow::drool::drool:

white wheels on a black car is a good look  although i'm also partial to black wheels on a black car ;)
