skoda stream cd/radio

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is spossible to connect an mp3 player to this unit, I have noticed that it has an aux setting and was wondering if it could be connected via this.

yes you do with a stereo jack

there are numerous threads on the forum regarding the same issue but as I understand it, on the stream without MP3 capability, even though the settings state there is a AUX in setting, it is not enabled. However, on a MP3 Stream you should be able to hook up to the AUX using the aux jack that is located in the armrest.

Depends on the age of the car. My Feb 2006 model does not have the input in the jumbo box. I think this became standard in summer 2006.

Correct, only later original (non mp3) streams have an aux-in that actually works. All MP3 versions have an aux in function. If you have a non mp3 stream, I believe that as long as it has the three sound settings (bass, mid, treble) in the menu the aux in should work.

If you dont have a connector in the armrest, then you can buy all the parts to install your own in the glovebox for example. Instructions to do this, along with a parts list are on here somewhere.

So if I have a non-MP3 stream which has the separate bass/mid/treble adjustment, the aux should be useable? I'm a bit confused as reading other threads I was led to believe that all Non-MP3 Streams had disabled aux and that the only way to wire in a Ipod/Mp3 lead was the Dension kit.

That would be here then

Currently trying to convince my dealer to do this for me though!

Good luck!

I don't know what happened to this link either - ca a moderator get it back?

It seems that Skoda changed the Stream design sometime in 2006 so although you don't have an Stream MP3, it may still have the Aux connections available. I have noticed from some advertised on the web that the button layout and the position of 'Stream' is different on non-MP3 versions of the head unit.

I'm getting my 2nd hand 2006 Octavia on Saturday so will have a poke around then.

By all accounts the connections don't exist within the basic Stream to add an aux-in. The most straight-forward alternative would be to buy a Connects2 adapter which will give you an aux-in in place of the CD-changer.

Iam going to do this:

I have the same problem as i only have the Ambiente model and the Aux in connections are in the back of the unit and you can also keep your CD changer plugged in as well.I will be doing this mod as it looks very easy to do.Those parts are still avaliable from VW and the 3.5mm chassis socket is £1.69 in Maplins

Hope its of some help to you.

Do you have the Stream model with 'Stream' in the top right of the CD slot? I think this indicates it is the later of the two non-MP3 versions. Have you pulled it out yet to check if it has the AUX pins on the circuit diagram?

Mine says "Stream MP3".

I haven,t got round to looking at the back of the unit yet but i think the AUX pins will be there iam 100% certain

Why not simply buy a MP3 and radio adapter which sends the signal to your radio. I use an iPod touch with a an adapter and it's good. I have the mini jack socket but prefer to use the wireless means. It will also save you installing the socket.

I have a radio app on my phone, its a bit like Dab.... this would be good for that... nice link, cheers.

Right, I pulled my stereo out and I can now answer my own question. My Stream MkII (i.e. the one with 'Stream' in the top right above the CD slot instead of under the display) doesn't have the Aux pins on the circuit diagram. So even though this model has an Aux volume option available, it isn't clear how you would wire an Aux feed in.

However, I've managed to get my hands on a 2nd hand Stream MP3 for £60 (better than £270 for a new one) and a helpful car audio firm who can get the code for me (£20). Just got to wire it up now and decide where to put the Aux socket.

Easiest place would be to feed it into the top storage area above the centre vents, that's where I have mine. Possibly more convenient (but significantly more of a ballache to do) would be to have it in the jumbo box under the front armrest (if you have one).

A couple of people have also wiired it into a blank in the lowest line of buttons, beneath the climate controls.

If you have a CD changer the pins changed position between Stream and Stream MP3 - the earth pin needs moving.
