I think I killed my Octavia

How about running a 75% veg, 25% unleaded in a PD engine? ....

Clatter, clatter, clatter, PINK PINK, Chug CLUNK.....[silence]

I dunno Montaego's with their DI engines seemed to run ok off it :) Well as well as one of those things could

The Montagro might have had a well designed injector spray pattern...didn't they use PSA diesels ?...

blimey...'Montego' and ' well designed' in the same sentence...thats a first..

No Rover used the PSA engines in the 218d etc. The Motaego used their own world first direct injection engine years before anyone else went DI.

Efficient, but noisy as f**k.

As for those two in the same sentence... I think the talking Maestro might have something to say about that

Talking Maestro...blimey thats going back at bit ....I wonder how many people drilled a hole through the dash speaker to shut her up.

Crediting or blaming Au'tin for the Maestro and Montego diesels isn't entirely fair either way. They both used the Perkins Prima; oddly, no-one else ever did! ;)

I think that's a little unfair on perkins....

No other car used that engine. I hear a few agricultural vehicles and boats did

Cor I never knew there were so many interesting types of diesel engine ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Didn't the Montego use a Perkins diesel - loads used in industrial applications but only once used in a car!

Could be worse, we could be talking about diverter valves, how to get enough air in and how to get a better spark and how to try and get every last ounce of power out an engine that needs to rev up to 7000rpm to really move.

Don't even get me started on the problems you get with HT systems, even coil packs which are supposed to be more reliable.

Back on topic...

I can quite clearly remember the TDI 90 and 110 fuel pumps and mine had 4 lines coming off on the high pressure side.

Quite true as the picture you posted earlier confirms.
