Getting a new mobile soon, wondering what you think i'm not sure this time

I'm on contract so i dont want to spend too much but like the look of sony ericsson p900 what do you think and how can you get good phones for free???

SE P900 means

You could move network and go onto 3, but I've heard bad things about them. Go to one of the big chain shops (phones4u/carphone warehouse) and pick up one of their catalogues to get an idea of what networks do what. All of them offer the same price plans now anyway.

But whatever you do - DO NOT , REPEAT DO NOT go to 3 - they are so pant's its an insult to pants !!

P900 is awesome bit of kit.If you are prepared to wait - you can get phones like the P900 sim free( work on any network/contract) via phone matrix sites - they way it works is you buy a CD that's got loads of ringtones, wallpapers etc on for

3 = 3x the headaches you would normally get in a month of headaches in headache season.

Personally the P900 kicks the 3 phones well into touch. I have the 606 and 808 (free trial from 3) and they are useless. The quality of the network was dire. customer services in India are useless totally useless.

The p900 on my desk is good for organising and other media app's...but for a pure phone then it's a bit ott.

Agree. Do NOT go on to 3! I was with them until this month. Finally got back onto my trusty Orange tariff and will never EVER reccomend 3 to anyone. Not even my worst enemy! :D

Phones are too big, network is too unreliable and it suffers from drop calls too often!

I'm due an upgrade on Orange soon and am thinking of the new Nokia 6320 as this looks pretty good.

Apparently the new NEC phone for 3 is quite good, bu I'm sticking with T-mobile until the network improves big time.

Isn't that a std Pyramid Scheme rip-off though? Do you know anyone who has actually received anything?

Yes a couple of colleagues in work have received items - but unless you refer loads of people it can take ages - and you need to make sure you only go on the lists for things that are going to remain popular - or you'll never get it.

Most of the "Brand New" sim free phones that you see on ebay are sourced this way - I know one guy who has done quite well out of these schemes - he has done it with iPod's

But as I said - you do have to be carefull which sites and which lists, and be prepared to wait a few months in some cases.

After years of useing Nokia, I switched to Sony Ericsson. The Sony was utter crap, and had a known software fault that Sony & Orange wouldnt do anything about "because there arent enough coming back for that KNOWN fault". I switched from Nokia as they seemed to fail religiously between 2 and 3 years every time, plus they also got very hot and made my ear hot.

After the Sony, I have swapped to Siemans. Whilst the phone is a little slow sometimes (though not as bad as a Sony) the phone has given me the best reliability I have ever had with a mobile. It hangs onto a signal far better than anything else too.

I should make clear that to me a mobile phone is a tool, and not a toy so gadgets, games, add-ons and cosmetics arent important whereas reliability, performance and audio quality are.

I would definately have another Siemans..no question.

Don't mention the P900! The bloody thing came out 2 weeks after I bought myself a P800, looks a lot sexier and is cheaper than what I paid for mine as well! Talk about adding insult to injury...

I have to say I wouldn't buy another phone like it - I don't make enough use of the PDA stuff and the damn thing is so big it doesn't fit comfortably in my jeans pocket.

Shiny electronic gadgets, my one weakness.....

Pete.
